Title: Local Hero Video (The Shadows)
Post by: qjamesfloyd on December 21, 2008, 01:09:33 PM
While looking on Yourtube, I came across the video for The Shadows version of Local Hero, which I had never seen before, so, I thought I'd share it :)

Yes, I have that live DVD from the Shadows, I agree it's not as good as Mark's version, but it is still good, and Hank Marvin is a legend in my book.

I'm sure it was thrilling for Mark to have his idol cover the song, but to me, there's really no "feeling" to this version of it. Mark's playing is so evocative and haunting. To me, this is just playing the notes.

Quote Knopfling: "To me, this is just playing the notes."

Yeah that is what sometimes happens. There are so many songs and some are sang by other artists, but nobody can sing as Mark does, it isn't the same! ;)
