Hi all forumers !
this answer from Guy today is very very interesting don't you think ?
-
I think it was said not as much as about final product, but actually about the production process.
-
Hey,
not really as he is saying that about every single release since I follow his homepage from 2001 on.. :wave ;D

Imagine Guy saying: you know, this is not the best thing we've done to date, Shangri-La was much better, don't buy this thing, you'll be disappointed.
-
Of course, foma, you are right, and indeed it is not a bad attitude of Guy. What I meant was only that you cannot give too much on it, seeing it as a difference, because Guy is maybe not the right person to judge it, especially now that he produced the whole thing - which I find quite astonishing by the way. I thought about it and maybe it has also to do with the longer working times that MK took. I guess Chuck Ainlay has a lot of other commitments, too, and you just cannot book him from let's say Oct 2013 to Septemer 2014.. as Guy is always present at BG, it is the more practical solution to let him produce the album.

Guy doesn't have to say anything regarding how good or bad it is. You're right in saying he isn't the best person to evaluate it and as such he could perhaps say it's different in style to ..., or there are influences from ..., for example.
-
I read Guy saying that so many times that I don't believe him anymore as if he says Tracker is the best they've done it just mean "until we do a new record"
-
He said the same thing about KTGC, and we all know how that turned out.
-
It's a bit like "today's milk is the freshest milk to date".

:clap :wave
Hear hear! ;)

I've been listening to Tracker a lot in recent summer evenings. But somehow my impression that Tracker is more suited to autumn and winter is intensified. I can't put my finger on it - but still, the songs are very beautiful to me. Basil is still going strong, the same applies to River Towns, Long Cool Girl, Lights Of Taormina, Silver Eagle, Wherever I Go and the bonus tracks as well.
I'm hoping that there will be news in the pipeline soon.....
Btw, has anybody got the tracklist of this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Knopfler-TRACKER-Bonus-Tracks-complete/dp/B00XNZS9FC/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1468350746&sr=8-2&keywords=knopfler+tracker

Hey Justme,
when you follow the link you'll see that there are two pictures, the second one shows the back and the track list. It is the German Special Edition from
Media Markt and Saturn with Hot Dog on it, so identical tracklist till Wherever I Go, followed by 38. Special, My Heart Has Never Changed, Terminal Of Tribute To, Heart Of Oak, and Hot Dog. It has NOT Time Will End All Sorrow and Oklahoma Ponies.
To me it seems not official. As Far as I know the DVD is only available from the Limited Deluxe Edition Box.
You can zoom the pictures and read what is listed on the red label, it is the content of the DVD

I had very similar feeling when I hear this album. For me, it definitely evokes an autumn mood. Crisp air, and falling leaves...

Hey,
thanks for your input. Damn, I didn't try to zoom the cover :smack.....It's been a long day. :wave
