For my birthday I got a DVD of DS: Sultans of Swing, Live in Germany 1979. Date February 16, 1979, Cologne.
I didn't see the DVD yet, just back from holiday. The little booklet says: DS gave this concert in Germany in 1979 for a select audience.
In my opinion it's a bootleg. But it's bought at the biggest online store in Holland bol.com
I also see it's available in other stores online. Did I miss something or is my conclusion right?
It has a link to a dutch Ltd on it.
Can someone please respond? If it's a bootleg indeed I will copy the artwork and stuff and send it to the management. All the best and thanks for all info you have on this item.

I don't recognise it as an official release. If it is I'm missing something from my collection!!

Sounds to me like this might be a DVD of the famous Rockpalast TV show (is this still available on the Spanish Tracker, I wonder?). Set list is identical, even down to Sultans of Swing being played twice.
I'm always suspicious of new release DVDs that are available at Amazon from other sellers only and not by Amazon themselves.
<edit> I should have checked Guy's forum before posting and I would have seen that Pottel has already confirmed this is indeed the Rockpalast video.

It's a pity that somebody, who I am sure didn't know about bootlegs, bought this DVD! :o The person thought perhaps to surprise you with one you didn't have yet! ;D

I agree Fieneke, I would never buy it myself. Actually I checked my bootlegs on my harddisk and it's there :D
But the one who gave it to me knew I was on holiday and bought it, because he was sure I couldn't have it yet.
I passed on all info (copies of the cover and booklet) to Paul Crockford who passed it on to the ones who are investigating this.
So I hope this one will be removed from the "official" shops as soon as possible as well. Another one after Nimes.
I really hope this will not happen again.

About this I have mixed feelings...
I like released bootlegs as they have a real nice covers (sometimes not) and pressed cd

I did some investigation and a "production-company" in Holland released the DVD. It's called cddirect and if you look at their site you see they only do livestuff so I presume there are more illegal cd's and dvd's of other artists as well.
This company sells to the wholesaler and the shops don't know better than that it is legal. So you can't blame the shops imo.

I informed PC, I think that's the direct way. Including name of the manager involved and some mails I send to that company and what I got back. So I really hope they can do something about it. PC answered me they were busy with it and that they want to direct all things to legal releases only.
One good thing about all this: maybe management will change their point of view about DVD-productions and will release more legal stuff :D
