Very nice with David, he seems to be a very nice guy to me. Some nice DS referring also!

He's certainly a great guy and I can't understand attitude of many fans like 'Mark doesn't like him, so neither do I'.

That is just strange when people say that. David is a very nice guy I think, with a lot of great music. That MK and he have their problems shouldn't be a influence I think!

I'm looking forward very much to hearing him on 17th April in Otley. I hope I can have a word or two with him and buy a CD for him to sign. Any recommendations? :)

Lovely that you are going to see him play, superval! I think his latest cd with Harry is a great one, and Songs for the siren!

Thank you, holaknopfler. I'll bear those in mind! :) I admit I don't know very much about his music, but I'm willing to learn more! ;)
BTW Is the latest one called "Made in Germany" ?
Nice interview! :)

Making Movies!
Talking of movies, there's a nice film called Otley and if I recall, Geordie James Bolam has a cameo in it!

We had a very pleasant evening with DK and Harry Bogdanovs last evening. The venue was very small, holding about 200 people and seemed to be sold out. David was very chatty and talked a lot whilst tuning his guitar about the inspiration for some of his lyrics, a lot of which were about his wife and daughter and life in New York.
Not having heard anything much of his music, apart from the odd YT video, I found most of the songs in the first half of the show to be pleasant, but on the bland side and one song seemed to merge into the next. There were some songs which stood out from the rest, namely "Easy Street, which sounded vaguely like MFN - David and Harry's guitar sounded great together on this song. Another song which I liked very much, but can't remember the title had a line in the lyrics about "east and west and being blessed" or something similar (maybe someone here knows the song)! Anyway this song had some really strong guitar from both DK and Harry and I enjoyed it a lot! The concert ended with "The Games People Play" with a big singalong!
During David's chitchat he mentioned that he had been in a rock band in the 70's and that he had a brother who was in the band too! ;D He mentioned Mark a few times, during the evening, imitating Mark's voice speaking to him, which sounded quite funny and certainly seemed to amuse some of the audience.
It was nice to see Steve Phillips in the audience with his daughter and some of his family.
To sum up, we had a very pleasant evening, but David and Mark are two very different musicians. Mark's lyrics are far superior, imo, his music is more varied and there is much more depth compared to David. One thing that impressed me greatly, though, was Harry Bogdanovs! His guitar work was superb! :)

Thanks holaknopfler for the interw link, and superval for the concert review. I found both very rewarding. It's great David and also John Illsley are still active today.

Harry Bogdanovs is absolutely stunning!

Yes, you're right! He played, mainly in the shadows, for most of the concert, but he received a well-deserved ovation at the end, which seemed to please him a lot! He's obviously not a man of many words - or even any words, but his guitar said everything! :)

I think exactly the same way towards DK. He's a nice guy and I really do wish him the best. I am quite sure that MK and DK may find a way to improve their brotherhood one beautiful day because they were very close when they were on stage together before 1980. I don't think MK was faking in front of the audience back then!!

The thing is how do we know that they don't get on these days? We are not privvy to everything that happens in their lives and why should we be - it's private! I'm sure, like most families with busy lives, they meet at family occasions and say a few words to each other. I know our family get-togethers are so chaotic, that there's barely time to say much to anyone, let alone a whole conversation - that's pretty normal I think! ;D

Agree with you Superval!! I already said that before, we don't know what's going on between them nowadays and we have nothing to do with this but people keep taking this subject up again by posting interviews of DK!! So if this is private matter, let's drop the comments on their relationship and talk about DK's songs!!! Have a nice sunday everyone!!

I only posted the interview because I find David one of the nicest guys around who makes great music and because it is a nice interview. So I don't know if the comment was for me, if it wasn't, then I didn't write this post. Nice sunday too! :)

No problems from my point of view Holaknopfler, this article is very interesting and I thank you for the link. I was just answering Superval comments. I think I understand what was the purpose of her post!! Relationship between DK and MK are private matter so better not to go deeper on the subject!! Sorry if you took my answer as a critic because it wasn't!!
