My Dad tells me that he bought his golf membership last month but this morning discovered that the powers that be had “moved the goalposts” and he is no longer permitted to play unless he improves his game! Not very fair for him when he signed up for something, made friends only to discover that they then changed the rules. He just hits the ball, sometimes it goes far and sometimes it’s accurate. Sometimes he cuts up the grass, but that’s just a mistake and he didn't mean to upset anyone. He doesn’t mean it, however it makes the bosses mad. So unless he stops cutting up the grass, he must leave.

Quoting (or misquoting) Grouxo March, I´ll never be part of a club that admits me as a member...
What a people... (ommited adjectives in order to avoid rude ones...)
I love Groucho's humor
another one :"Miss, I spent a wonderful evening...but it was not today"

Great post, dmg. Your Dad should act accordingly. I would. Or he should think about it. A month or so.

I don't think he ever will but he is pretty mad at the moment.

Wow what a coincidence! I happen to be on the committee of the golf club in question so I reviewed the rules.
Fear not. Your "dad" will be able to play in exactly the same way as he has for years without any problem. Unless of course, you know, he starts deliberately being an arsehole and interrupting the other players' game just for the sake of it.
But seeing as he has never done that before I don't see why he would start now. :)

Excellent response, Dusty. Golf is such a dependable and sportsmanlike game, and a game where most of the players are courteous and minding of the rules, which are there for the sake of the sport and the community. The thing is, when the bad sports leave, the rest of the members are relieved. :)

Hmmmmm. Is his humor as good as yours dmg? Because if it is he should go there right now and demand to exhibit to them that he has improved. And you should be there filming the reactions. By the way, was he offered a refund for the membership? Isn't there any other golf club, other than that one?
