We can simply ask  :D

It certainly won't be linked on MKNews Forum!  Every time I even mention AMIT, just in passing, my post is deleted.  Still no freedom of speech on that site I'm afraid.   :(
Title: Re: our forum linked elsewhere

I simply never visit it anymore  :D
To be a little political: MKNews is not the only one preventing people from freedom of speech. Geert Wilders from the Netherlands (politician, really harsh, not smart all the times) was not allowed to enter the UK to show his movie Fitna. I don't agree with him, sometimes what he says makes sense but the way he does is stupid and he is overreacting all the time, but we have to keep freedom of speech, even when people say nonsense.

No blame to you at all Val, just joking a little. But I am serious when I say we have freedom of speech. That's one of the reasons this forum started. And opposite to Geert Wilders we will be polite and having discussions, not trying to hurt feelings of others.

It is linked at my web-site ;)  www.cornwall-pictures.com/links/  Probably not going to help that much though!

The fact that Terry wishes to censor the fact that AMIT exists just proves how important it was to start our own site where free speech is tolerated.

Things were so bad there I wasn't even allowed to call Michael Jackson a cob-knobbler.

BTW Ingrid, I think most British people (as opposed to the Government) would agree that Dutch MP guy should have been allowed in. We already allow loads of foreign extremists to actually live in the country for God's sake.  ::)

anyone asked? richard, or guy?? or the mk official com site guy??

I will send both of them a private mail (not on Guy's forum I think). Hopefully they will respond positive!

Just changed my mind: is it possible to first activate the "links" in our site and add Guy's site, Richard's , John McCusker's, official MK-site etc.!

Way better when they have a look first before they add our link  ;)

When it helps, here are the links I mean:
http://www.markknopfler.com/
http://www.guyfletcher.co.uk/
http://www.richard-bennett.com/
http://www.johnmccusker.demon.co.uk/

Feel free to give more suggestions!

TK is also an administrator on Markknopfler.com and has recently been deleting/editing on that forum too, so I doubt very much that he would link AMIT there, the same as he wouldn't on MKNews forum.  AMIT doesn't exist as far as he is concerned.   :-\

I agree with you Val, but we have to link to Markknopfler.com. It's the only official one. Idiot that he is deleting there as well. And that they still allow him to be a moderator there. Management knows enough about him!
And I added a post in the markkknopfler.com-forum in which is the link to our website here. Very polite, saying that we are not official but a group of friends. We will see if the post will be there for a long time  ;)

Surprised to learn that he is part of the set up on mk.com, I thought that part of the reason for that site beibg set up was down to some of the "problems" on the mk news forum.  :-\

I already knew he was working on that site in the news-section. I saw his posts there. But I thought they had other admins/mods!

As far as I know, Markknopfler.com is administrated on the European side by TK. and Princess Buttercup is on the US/Canadian side.  At least that is what we were told at the beginning when Markknopfler.com was set up (TK told us himself).  At the moment though, Buttercup is keeping a VERY low profile and TK seems to be doing the editing at the moment.  He is not so much in evidence as on MKNews Forum, though!

Sometimes, of course, it is necessary to edit, etc  because there have been some very strange posts on that site, which needed dealing with and Buttercup could not be found!  (In fact I am beginning to wonder if she exists at all!)  :-\   In this case TK did some deleting/editing!

BTW Ingrid, I saw your post and it is very polite and I hope it works for us!   :)

I just gave it a try. In 15 minutes I had over 10 views so it works anyway. People read there as well. When you look at TK's profile he is just a member, not a moderator or admin. Buttercup's profile says admin or something. When you look at TK's posts you see only things in the news-section. But if my post will be deleted I will write to the management  ;) After all the things we told them it would be completely idiot that TK still is a mod there.

This is the post I put there for the ones who didn't read it there (and to save it here in case it will be deleted):

Hi all,

As all of you know this is the only official website of Mark Knopfler. But because the world is much bigger I am involved in a project that is going to build a enormous database of all gigs MK has ever played. The site is partly under construction, we are already working on it for over a year, but some parts are running already. Some galleries, another forum etc.

I really hope to see some of you there as well. There are a lot of interestingMK-related sites on the internet, and we think we added one. Feel free to join us there as well. We are not official! But just a group of friends who had an addional idea. The site is http://www.amarkintime.org/

You can see what it is going to be in the menu and you can click on parts of it, one of them is the forum which is running from last august. Hope to see you all here and there.

Best regards, Ingrid

 :) Great work Ingrid.  :D
We can only hope that sanity prevails and who-ever the Admin/Mods are, over there, that they leave your post as it is. From what you have written the only reason it could be removed is that they see us a major threat to their own existence, whereas they should see us as allies.  ;) We will no doubt have a link to their location when we are fully functional.  :) All of us spreading the gospel of MK.

Thanks for the welcome.

I`m also a member of the MK guitar style forum, where guitar technique & gear etc is discussed - are there any plans to include equipment details and history, some guitar topics etc?
i can`t get enough of discussing this sort of thing, and learning from other peoples vast knowledge of MKs guitars (i`m sure some folks know more about it than Mark himself!)

Anyway it`d be great to see as much info as possible on such a Good looking site as this! :)

Well, I was responsible for removing that cob nobbler post, and it was definitely a bad call on my part.

For some reason I thought it was a good idea to volunteer to be a moderator at MKNews...when I did, I was told that one of the guidelines was to make sure the forum was "family safe". To be honest, I'd never heard the term "cob-nobbler" before, but when I looked it up the only definition I found was fairly crude. I asked TK what to do and he said I should delete it. In hindsight I shouldn't have brought it up...nobody seemed to find it offensive at all. Sorry about that Dusty.

Like others, I've become a bit disillusioned with that forum (I haven't been a moderator over there for ages, and I don't think I've even posted since last summer). It's over-moderated so much that it's had the life sucked out of it...I had no idea that references to this site are being deleted over there. I knew it was bad, but that's crazy.

I used to absolutely love it there, but until a day or so ago I had resigned myself to chatting to people individually. Fortunately that's when I "rediscovered" this place! I remember signing up here at AMIT some time ago, but haven't been here in some months (the last time it seemed pretty quiet...now it looks far more alive than MKNews). I can't tell you all how glad I am to have come across a MK message board like this...I've spent a while reading the topics here and this site has got the spirit of what MKNews used to be.

So, my incredibly long winded point is....I'll be coming here often!!

And Fletch, feel free to discuss whatever you like, also techie stuff (not my specialty btw  ???) or guitarstuff, a lot of people here know a lot about all different topics related or not related to MK.

Tommy, first of all so nice to have you "back" with us, not least because of your high quality DVB captures whenever MK is on telly.  ;) (By the way, did you make a HQ capture of The Story of the Guitar?)

But secondly, my complaint about cob-knobbling was tongue in cheek, it's a term that sounds rude but isn't really but to be fair to TK I can see why he would operate a "better safe than sorry" policy in such instances, so really, don't worry about it.  :)

I only made a DVD recorder recording of The Story of the Guitar...and I don't think I've even watched it yet. I assume it's already been uploaded somewhere, but if it hasn't (and if nobody has a better version) I'd be happy to do the honours.

Thanks Val, Pottel, Ingrid and Dusty for the "welcome back" messages. It's great to be back and to see so many names I recognise!

(Also, for the record, I didn't mean to attack TK or anyone at MKNews in my last post...just expressing slight frustration that it's being "policed" quite so stringently.)

I think we close this talk about TK now.
I know what happened to BPD, and I know a lot more about TK. I agree with BPD, but let us keep the level high and why talk about these kind of things when we can talk about interesting issues.

By the way Fieneke, it's ok when someone gives his opinion, you don't have to agree, but he needed to  put the words out of his heart. Let's say: Mugabe is a bandit, I don't care when the bastard will be killed. I think most people (or all) agree and let me say it. It's the same, but because it's a famous bandit and all people know what he is doing, no-one will give a negative reaction to me.

But we close the discussion, it's an MK-forum not a TK-forum.

I don't like TK too: I believe he is arrogant. But I agree with Fieneke that such language should be kept out of the forum, in respect to people who read (among which there may be friends of TK)
If you have a "private war" with someone, please use private means of communication.
Just my opinion: I'll not write anymore on this topic.

I agree with everything that Fieneke has said.  Even though I am no fan of TK I believe that  language such as displayed by BPD should not be on a public forum.  Well said, Fieneke!  :)
