Title: A little JJ/MK type song I did
Post by: Fletch on July 30, 2015, 05:37:24 AM
My wife doing the backing vocals, taking the song from 'leave me alone' status to 'she's got a nice voice but you should stop singing...' (seriously someone said that to us after a gig once! :) )
Hope this link works...

I like it. Fun idea. I would suggest adding drums and/or bass though to mark the first beat of the bar more clearly and to give it a stronger groove. Not that all songs need a strong groove, but I feel this one calls for it. The way it is now it feels as if the rhythm is not very tight.

Thanks mate, yeah I agree completely. It is completely due to my own laziness that there are no drums, my mate was willing to record them but I have been too slack to take my computer and recording gear over to his house to do the deed. In fact this recording as it stands has been sitting around for a few months as is, and yesterday I just thought 'to hell with it' and posted the vid up :)
It's no masterpiece, just fun.

Ps I don't follow everything on AMIT but are you the same Jackal that left here a long time ago? Good to have you back if you are! If not, it doesn't matter, still nice to have you contributing!

I know the feeling - "to heck with it". I also have a ton of unfinished ditties that I can't muster up the energy to finalize.

Yes, the same Jackal. Nice to be back too, although I'm not / won't be as involved as I was.

well done Fletch, I like it.
musically and vocally it reminds me of Lou Reed's NY album, especially songs like I'm sick of you.
I'm sure it's no the same lyrics theme of course, but as english is not my mother tongue I focus on the music/singing, and its' the first singer that cames to mind, more than JJ Cale
