Title: guitarplaying on Cal
Post by: boriszhukov on August 04, 2015, 03:40:47 PM
I was just listening to this great record. Has anyone noticed how different Mark sounds and plays on this record compared to his solo stuff and DS stuff?  Especially a lot of the acoustic playing.  It is a very exciting listen if anyone should have forgotten :-)

Need to listen to it again. Been a long time. The Long Road used to be a favorite.

Sold my LP, never bought the CD.

Funnily, this is this the only whole album featuring TW on drums.

I still wonder why Guy was brought in instead of Alan... Was the Geordie already fed up with that folky stuff style?

Alan was more a piano / organ player I guess (although he used various synths on stage and in the studio as well) while Guy was an expert on synths. I think Mark wanted someone to create 'textures', to add sounds and colours so to say, especially for his soundtracks obviously.
