Hi everyone,My name is Gent and I am 15(maybe too young to be a mark knopfler fan)I am from the new born country The Republic of Kosovo(a little country on the south-western part of Europe).
I don't remember when i first listened to Mark Knopfler's music, but I think I was round 5 when i heard sultans of swing on the radio ,because of that age i never knew who was singing but the guitar sound was in my head for the rest of my life ,and when I found out about MK and the Dire Straits I became a true fan.I also play guitar but only for fun.
I never knew there existed a forum like this but now I am very happy to be a member of this MK fan community. ;D

Hi Gent. Great to have you on AMIT. Hope you enjoy your time with us as we expand into the future.

Hey Gent, and all other MK fans. I, too, am new to this site; looking forward to discussions of all things Mark and SERIOUSLY looking forward to the new cd release this fall...and the tour that will follow in 2010.
2010 - wow! As I write this, it reminds me how old I am. I started listening to Mark in 1978 and I was older than you are now, Gent. How great it is that young people are being turned on to this incredible talent. That, alone, gives me hope for our future!

There is no such thing as being 'too young' to be fan of Mark's Gent. As a matter of fact...most of us old farts welcome seeing some youth amongst the ranks of MK fans. You are right about Mark's distinctive guitar sound ...it will stick with you for the rest of your life. My 17 year-old son is a guitarplayer like yourself and I took him to see Mark in concert last summer...he was stunned by the music he heard that night. I hope you enjoy posting on the site.

Thank you, superval99. It's a pleasure to be here with so many other fans.

A warm welcome to both of you, Gent and Trawlergirl. The range of ages of our members is very wide. But, Gent, I think you have beaten Danny J and Dan M. At the other end? Trawlergirl, hmmmm I know I'm close, but not at the top.
Gent, your white cat is lovely. :)
-
Yes, you're never too young to be a Mark Knopfler fan.
Gent, your white cat makes you look a bit like a Bond villain in the "Dr Evil" mold, you're not planning on world domination are you? ;)
Welcome to all our new members, so great to have so many new friends on board.
-
As usual I am a bit late, but of course I also want to welcome Gent and Trawlergirl! It's great when new people join us! ;D
I am sure you both will have a great time with reading, "talking" and sharing information about Mark and his music! :P
