I like both, except for the name (the signature in the second is ok), I would delete the name from the shirt, don

I feel a new T-shirt coming up for the next tour. Gayle ................ where are you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?????????

To explain this GeTo: last tours one of us designed a T-shirt and Gayle (From the US) had them printed and send them all over the globe. So maybe one of your designs can do for the T-shirts for next tour. I like the second one very much and then front without text and back something like we had last years.
Maybe you saw some of us at gigs, we have Knopflerado-shirts (see my avatar) from 2005 and one with MK's hand on the guitarneck in 2007. Gayle we need you .... a new shirt in 2010 please!!!

I can't speak for Gayle but I don't think she wants to do that again (after the story with the KTGC logo, etc).

But I love the 2nd one too and agree with jbaent about the name.

Well I never was at any of MK's gigs so I don't know how where the other ones but I can see the picture  and about the ones I made I can change and design them again however you guys want.

Yup, agree. I also like the 2nd one, but without the name. Just the signature.

I too also have the Knopflerado and the MK fingers from the last 2 tours.

Thanks to Gayleeeeeeeeeee :-* :-* :-*(where are you Gayle. I miss you)

It of course would be GREAT to have a new 2010 T.shirt.

It may be worth waiting to see what the new album is called, and the artwork for the front cover before deciding, whilst also remembering the problems Gayle had with the use of the letters KTGC. ;)

All this thought of the tour next year is getting me all sweaty. :D

Won't be long till the new album (well, only 7 months) ;D

Cheers   BBB

All this thought of the tour next year is getting me all sweaty. :D

I hear you, best, I hear you!

When we were at Red Rocks last summer, there were several people wearing Mark shirts that weren't official tour garments and I wondered where they'd come from.  Gent, I like your second design, as well; minus the printed name.

And, what about one at the front and the other at the back?

A shirt for the next tour is a must! Gayle - if it falls to you to organise - please make sure you order a few XXLs!! :(

These T-shirt would be great but take care with copyright issues (photograph and signature).

Gayle did some great stuff and I am happy to own them.

I wanted to make these only for personal use but I thought of sharing them,I really don't want to mess with law and stuff.

If Gayle appears we will talk it over again. We still have plenty of time, but I really would like to have another shirt for this Knopflerado/Knut/Crazy group of fans  :D
And after Gayle explained everything to PC it was ok anyway. As long as it's not for sale but just for this group it is ok. And his autograph and picture doesn't seem a big problem to me. But we can ask PC first if we decide we want a shirt again. He is pretty nice (except the one time he wrote to Gayle).

If I was Gayle, after what happened last time, I would never want to hear the word T-Shirt ever again!   ::)

If it did happen, though, I like the second one, just with the signature!  :)

Just a thought - Doesn't MK own his signature?  That could be a problem!  :-\

I think that both are great!     I agree with the others about only the signature being on the second one.
One possibility is to have the transfer sheets made and sell those.  That way, it would be much less bother for you.  No messing with sizes and that sort of thing.    Then we couldhave the transfers put on our own t shirt.   Beautiful artwork! :)

That's a good idea as well. Can you think about this GeToS23?
But we have to agree on what color we will print it then, so we will have the same shirts at the end. Or maybe (in the second part of this year) if Gayle doesn't want to do it I pick it up.
But this is a good option Marie. We can print it in our own shop. Very easy to realise I think  :)

Just a thought - Doesn't MK own his signature?  That could be a problem!  :-\

Yes it could be, for example Eric Clapton signature is copyrighted and use it for official mershandising- better to check with PCM before.

I think that PCM will respond readily to such a question.

I think there is no need for these T-shirts anymore because there are new ones at Markknopfler.com

For the new people who didn't see the T'shirts of last year yet, I'll post these 2 pictures! This shirt was designed for and by fans, Gayle from the USA did all the work to sent them around the world. About 50 shirts were made, so they are very special! ;)

At the pictures you see Val and me when we and fans of other countries met each other before the Kick off concert in Amsterdam last year. It was great to have such a shirt and I will wear it with proud again! ;D

I just see the text at the back isn't clear enough. These words are written: Mark Knopfler Forum Member  ;)

Gayle is a very nice lady from the USA, you will "meet" her when she has time to read and post here!  ;D

Yeah I saw those shirts, but I don't like them as much as the one we had last year! ;D

Unfortunately, the MK store says they are not available in North America.   That's no fun.

In my opinion we do need a new shirt in 2010. Actually the ones that were designed for us forummembers (sorry I forgot for both shirts who I have to credit for design  :-[) are much more beautiful than the official tourshirts. I don't like the last years official shirts. off course I bought some, because as a real Knopflerfan I collect everything  ;D
But the design from GeToS is perfect for a new shirt for us

And then on the back:

A Mark  In Time Forummember
Tour 2010

Something like that  :)

I'm all for having a forum t-shirt but most of you will remember the problems that Gayle had last year with copyrite issues etc :(.It was looking like she was getting a solicitors letter at one stage from PC Management co, so we would want to be very carefull if we look at doing something for the next tour!If you contact PC Management co directly on this you are going to get a flat NO & more than likely a warning as well to tell you not to do it.

However,in saying all that how are these guys operating on ebay?

http://cgi.ebay.ie/MARK-KNOPFLER-Dire-Straits-guitar-T-SHIRT-ALL-SIZES_W0QQitemZ350174262904QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMen_s_Clothes?hash=item350174262904&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1301%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318

I dont think that these guys contacted PC or any other artists management company in relation to these??

W/M, It wasn't just a solicitor's letter. They threatened to ban her from the forum and ever buying tickets,  merchandise, etc from Markknopfler.com, not to mention legal action!  So we need to be very careful!  :-\

Yeahh I remember the mails Gayle got from management! After all the hard work and problems she had, Gayle told she never would organize anything anymore and I understand that! ;)

In a mail of Paul Crockford's management to Gayle was said:
All rights to Mark Knopfler are owned by Mark himself.  Please note that your name will be removed from all www. markknopfler.com mailing lists and you will no longer have access to tickets, presales or any other venue where I can exercise that control. Gayle was told NOT to sell, send or wear this shirt and that if she would do, there would be legal action. ...........Lucky after a few days Gayle (and we all) got permission to wear the shirt as Paul said "just this once". Further T Shirt endeavors would require approval from management.

==============

I am sure you all can imagine that this was a big shock for Gayle and for all of us too! All we wanted was a forum member Fan's T'shirt for and by the forum fans! :o

I like the second shirt also, but I am not sure if this picture from Mark (or copyright from somebody else) can be used. There is a change it might not be allowed and I don't want people to get in trouble because of a few shirts! ;)

The other really awful thing about the T-Shirt fiasco, was that TK deleted the T-Shirt thread, so we couldn't talk about it or even refer to it on the forum, thus denying us our freedom of speech!  >:(

I agree with Fieneke, even though I would like a 2010 T-Shirt, I would hate anyone to get into trouble!  :)

But after Gayle replied to PC and told what was going on she received another mail that was much more friendly. Especially because it wasn't for sale and it were just the forummembers (the ones who ordered one so only 50) made him saying it wasn't a real problem anymore. He understood she was doing business with this T's and that made him crazy. So I don't think we have a problem at all.

It is allowed to organize T-shirts for every private-club you have. And we are just a club. Compare it with having another club (knitting or something  ;D  ;D ) and decide to have a t-short.

We don't have to use his name: A Mark In Time Forum Member seems ok to me. And if we don't use official pictures, only private one which are designed like below in this thread I really don't think it's a problem. But before we really start it I will contact PC and GF about it. Is that an idea so we can go on with designing and so on for now and in a couple of months I will contact them and talk about it.

For now I have to go. I am back in 10 days if a polarbear didn't eat me in the meantime  ;)

Quote Ingrid: "Compare it with having another club (knitting or something     ) and decide to have a t-short."

Haha Ingrid, the vision I get when I think about all the MK fans (especial the male ones) sitting in a room busy with knitting a short for Mark!  ;D

I wish you and Johan a wonderful vacation. Please watch our for the bears and return safe! ;)

Hi Fieneke,
I am back and was travelling alone, so not with Johan. It was great and I saw two polar bears, which really is an experience. They were not very close so it wasn't scary  :) This was really one of the best trips I ever did.

Hi there !!

Phewww what a long time i didn't visit the forum ! (buisness buisness !!)

I like the idea of the new T.shirt but yeah take care and before doing everything, please ASK even for the pictures you are using (even if they are reworked with photoshop or something) they got a copyright.
In 2007 i wanted to make a calendar with the official pictures from KTGC, PC said that i wasn't allowed...(Picture own to the photograph and to the production).

GeToS23, take care with that :)

Cheers everybody !

Dear, sweet, lovely, wonderful, amazing Knopflerados,

First of all, I love the designs for shirts shown on the first page of this thread. Very cool!

Secondly: I WILL NEVER SELL T-SHIRTS AGAIN! IF I DO-SHOOT ME FIRST!!!!!!!!

Even though the actual sale and mailing of shirts to all of you was a glorious experience, surpassed only by seeing pics of you wearing your shirts, I WILL NEVER DO IT AGAIN! I ran into too many difficulties and heartaches, as a result of the last t-shirt venture, which was so beautifully described by so many of you.

If you want to have your own shirts made up, I'm sure you can do it reasonably at a silk screening shop near you.

That said, I do have a few remaining KNOPFLERADO shirts and KTGC (without the KTGC) shirts to sell. I do not have any size XXL or XL shirts left. Only Ls, Ms, Ss and a couple of Ladies' sizes. If anyone is interested, they are $25 USD plus shipping. PM me.

Otherwise, good luck on 2010 shirts! It was my pleasure to serve you in the past(for shirts), just not in the future.....

BTW: Did I say NEVER AGAIN?

Love,

Gayle

Great to see you again Gayle. :)
You deserve a medal for the efforts on the last 2 Knopflerado shirts.
I still proudly wear them now at home, and when i'm out.

Hope we see more of you now on the run up to the new album & tour.

Lots of love, your BBBuddy. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Thanks, Fie! I'm alive and well (now that my stomach flu is over).....I've just had a busy and eventful few months. The dark clouds have passed, the sun is shining and Spring is in the air!

NO T SHIRTS EVER AGAIN.......

Did I mention anything about t shirts?
Title: Re: MK T-shirt designs
Post by: ingridswing on March 31, 2009, 09:19:51 AM
Haha, the old Gayle is back. Crazy as ever. Welcome back dear, missed you!!

But about T-shirts: What if .......
I write to Paul Crockford, give him our design and tell him what we want to do (just a T for this group Knopflerados, no profit, no marketing, just made by and sold to members of this forum).
And What if....... he gives his permission ........???

You still stick to your conclusion Gayle??? If so, someone else has to do it, I don't care about that, I will be glad to do so, but the quality of your T's are amazing and how the f.... can I ever get the same quality for that good value?

But anyway, did I say that I am glad you are back and happy that clouds have passed, sun is shing and spring is in the air? Love Ingrid

Dear Gayle, I have just returned (about one hour ago) from Amsterdam and it was wonderful to see you posting again.  I have really missed you, just as I know we all have.     Of course, I understand completely that you would not want to do the T-shirts again, as you said, NEVER AGAIN!   BTW Please keep posting!   ;)

Dear Ingrid and Val,

Thank you for your kind welcome back words! I've missed you and seeing how warmly you've responded to my return reinforces my love for my fellow Knopflerados.....

As for the t-shirts......*****SIGH*****.......What part of NEVER don't you understand????? :P :o :o :o Unless PC and MK emailed me themselves and BEGGED, I will NEVER do t-shirts again!

I love you, I just can't bear the agony of threatened legal action, mailing deadlines and guessing what extra sizes to order, not to mention adding to my present pile of unsold shirts....AGAIN!

That is my final answer ;D
