Title: Best album of 2015?
Post by: Guitarman1972 on October 04, 2015, 11:00:14 AM
I'm afraid Tracker isn't going to make it as my favourite album of 2015.  :hmm It might be the runner up. Last Friday I discovered the latest album of Warren Haynes called "Ashes & Dust". For those who love guitar heavy albums I really recommend to check this album out. There are many great tracks on the album.

Let me know what great album you discovered of this year...

Here is one of the tracks of that album to get an impression of the album.

Steven Wilson's Hand. Cannot. Erase.
Everything is perfect: the music is stunning, with really cool dynamic differences, it is mastered perfectly and the lyrical themes are wonderful.
The best song is Routine, which is also really a sad song, about a woman losing her family, but she still prepares dinner for all of them etc. as it's part of her routine.

Studio version of the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIyvIRrRB3M
Live version with stunning video that never fails to make me keep my breath for the full 9 minutes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NVZKQ8KlcDg

Tracker is no. 1 - if the bonus tracks are included. If not the top spot goes to:

Sonny Landreth's "Bound by the blues".

It's blues. It's Sonny Landreth. That's all you need. :)

I`ve mentioned him before, but CW Stonekings new album Gon` Boogaloo is really cool. Some quite catchy songs, The Zombie, How Long & Tomorrow Gon` Be Too Late... really worth a listen if you see it around or on youtube.

Must admit though, apart from Tracker, it`s the ONLY `new` album i`ve bought all year. I`m old now, I don`t want to hear new stuff !!!! :)

I went to a Hifi & Multimedia event today. Discovered some wonderful tunes/music/artists. I think Knopfler fans will appreciate the music too. It's in the same style. I really recommend to check the following songs out: "Chris Jones - No Sanctuary Here", "Chris Jones - Long After You're Gone", "David Munyon - Poet Wind" and "Allan Taylor - The Beat Hotel"

"Allan Taylor - The Beat Hotel"

Allan Taylor is a little monotone, but I love his song  'A House By The River'.

By the way, his 'Colour To The Moon' is akin to 'Iron Hand' at the very beginning.

"Chris Jones - Long After You're Gone"

Oh, what a song... just can't stop listening

I'm like Fletch, very rarely buy new music these days but this year I have enjoyed Jason Isbell and Steve Earle's new records.

The older I get the less I care about the "best". There's just music that I like and listen to and I don't really pick favorites anymore. That said, Tame Impala's Currents would be high on my list, even if I feel some of the tracks on there are a bit weak lyrically. I also enjoyed Mac Demarco's EP entitled Another One.

I still listen to "classics" artists from rock history, and I must admit I am not curious about new ones
