Recently i have been listening to some live recordings of Eric Clapton featuring Mark Knopfler on guitar. While i was listening to it i thought wouldn´t it be great if those 2 legends make a duet album like Clapton did in the with BB King and make a short tour together.
Imagine they play some new great tunes and some of there own songs together. I think we´ll have a great show with some guitar fireworks onstage.
And it´s always been a dream for me to see those 2 live on one stage

Absolutely won't happen these days IMO. Mark has avoided all sorts of appearances alongside other stars of this sort and rock galas etc since Monserrat in 1997. Surely he's had umpteen chances to have other guitarists on stage with him on tour, like Sonny Landreth back in July, but won't take up the opportunity. No, these days I suspect are long gone. Like you though, I quite like these bootlegs and Mark adds a lot to EC's songs.

Well not since Montserrat.
Mark & Eric were supposed to do a charity gig together for the Teenage Caner Trust back in 2003

No optimistic about an album, sharing a stage for a charity, why not? But alas both have aged since so...

I hope that this never happens...

The best Clapton Knopfler release for me would be a proper, officially released and mastered version of the Mandela 88 concert which stands as an outstanding moment in Dire Straits history and indeed global music events.
A nice gatefold 180gram pressing on vinyl of this concert would be amazing and I reckon would sell pretty well, as a lot of people, not just Straits fans remember that performance.

and I would add "cocaine" from december 85
amazing versions of Ride across the river, tunnel of love, wild west end, dallas rag, and one of the best version of Cocaine I've heard

Yes that series of shows from 30 years ago to the day were some of the hottest in terms of performance from the BIA tour in my opinion, alongside the NYC shows and would be great if a proper recorded source could ever be found. Surely more BIA concerts must have been recorded off the board. Mind you, the audience recording of Cocaine has that great moment where the crowd realise the song has kicked in, also when Clapton joins DS on stage during Two Young Lovers : a yelp of surprise from the audience
