I know its a long way off but where are we all planning to go next year?
If we had an idea of who is going where it might make it easier for all of us when we go about looking at the folowing,
1. Concert Tickets - when the pre-sale starts people could book 4 tickets as opposed to 1 or 2 & we'd have more people in the one area as opposed to being scattered all over the place!Obviously the people that book the tickets would be paid back by the others.Even if you did book a ticket for someone & they couldnt go,I dont think that you will be stuck with it if you put it up on here or on MK Mews / mk.com.
2. Accommodation - last year eagle eyed Dusty emailed us that a room in the Travel Lodge in Newcastle was only something like
-
Good idea WM. :)
As far as i was concerned, last year i went to 5 gigs.
For me, i have to thank Ingrid for buying my tix. I paid her back using PayPal.
This worked really well.!
She bought my tix for 2 Amsterdam gigs & 2 at the RAH in London.
I was also lucky enough to be invited to stay at Ingrid's house for a couple of days in Amsterdam along with a few other fans. (Nelly & Maarten)
As far as the gigs in London, myself, Nelly & Ingrid stayed in a Travel Lodge.
These are GREAT. And if you book far enough in advance, you can get some really good deals.
One of the best things about the whole experience, apart from the gig (obviously), was the meeting of other fans. It was great to put a face to a name. I lost count of how many fans from the forum i met last year.
The other gig i went to was in Newcastle, where i got a M&G ;D ;D ;D ;D 8)
WM & Dusty can back me up on this one. For me a dream come true.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 8)
Next year, (wife willing), i plan to try and get to at least 5 again, and hopefully a promo gig as well.
Amsderdam x2
RAH x2
Dublin x1
Who knows. It may depend on where Mark kicks off the tour.
Can't wait.
I just hope the pre-sales etc...........go as smoothly as possible.
Cheers BBB

Probably Edinburgh and Newcastle anyway. Might try to get to Amsterdam for the kick-off (assuming it's there again) depending on finances.
-
I'm hoping to go to Amsterdam x 2 (if there are two), Rotterdam (maybe), Newcastle, Edinburgh and Brighton. We usually stay in Ibis Hotels, which we have found to be quite reasonably priced and a consistent quality. The one in Amsterdam was extremely good and had a restaurant, which was open until midnight. The Ibis in Edinburgh was also very good and provided food until after midnight. I would also like to go to the opening concert again, depending on where it is (Amsterdam , I hope).
I agree with BBB that meeting the fans is one of the highlights of concert-going. It was wonderful to meet all the various people, who I only knew by name before and to be able to put a face to the name. Pre-sales are a bit nerve-wracking, though and I hope everything works OK. :)
-
For me:
Brighton - my local gig.
RAH
Edinburgh or Newcastle
Denmark
Amsterdam
+ N America X 2, either 2 on W coast or 2 on E.
May be wishful thinking though - depends on many variables, but wife and finances are the main ones! :)
Looking forward to it and to meeting some new and old faces.
-
If they do the Red Rocks/Salt Lake/Vegas trio again, I will go to those. I might be interested in Chicago, or if they go to Dallas, too.
-
I never put in my own possabilities ::)
Dublin is a given - were probably back in the Point Depot ( now the new O2 arena) sitting - was standing in the RDS arena last time.
Newcastle is a most definite & I would love to go to the Royal Albert Hall for one show though.
Like everyone else its all down to finances but I have no problem going into debt for it though :P :P - As far as I know I'll only be around here once,MK is'nt getting any younger & I wont be getting a second chance - who knows I might win the lotto in the mean time :o :o
-
Well you've got free bed and board if you fancy coming to Edinburgh Dan. :)
-
That will depend of my job at this time !
I hope a week at the RAH, maybe again some Holland that was sooooo great last year !!!
Brighton would be lovely too !! (I was about to go there last year... but I couldn't change my plane)
and Paris for sure and maybe if they come to Lyon ... well as much as i could afford i'll do ! (starting saving)
-
Hi Everyone.
I did 13 gigs last year;9 in the UK and 4 here in Canada and I have to say Edinburgh and Newcastle were my fave's--Kelowna "rocked"---so lets hope the economy allows us all do as many shows as we can, lets face it Mark's music has a way of bringing out the best in us all,so why should we deny ourselves that pleasure!!!---to quote a well known ad slogan "Tunes help you breath more easily"--that would be a very"apt" title for the new album?
take care

I'm planning to go to Berkeley, Jacksonville OR and Portland, if the three are all on the itinerary. I'd love to see Reno included. My husband is rolling his eyes. "How many?" ::)
-
i did the opening nights in holland, then berlin, frankfurt and oberhausen, went on to brussels cologne and luxemburg, and one thing i will consider for the next tour is the standing arena's. it is not that i am getting to old to stand up for the whole time, but i hate the pushing and shoving and hours of useless standing around and afraid of losing your space in front of the entrance.
knowing that you have front row seats, and being able to grab a nice bite to eat and drink before the show, showing up half an hour before showtime, slacking to your seat in front of mark and band DOES have its advantages.
i would this time around try and do all german shows, any show they do in my hometown of antwerp or brussels if they prefer to go there.
paris is a possibility, so it any dutch show, and this time around i want to add as much UK gigs as possible.
i am hoping to come to 20 or 30 gigs this time around. no italy, or scandinavia.
-
I doubt that mark is planing to visit south america...so none concert
sad :(
-
Well you've got free bed and board if you fancy coming to Edinburgh Dan. :)
Thanks for the offer Dusty, who knows I might take you up on it ::) ::)
It all depends on the dates & if its like previous years, they will all be around the same time!
-
Wherever he plays in NYC and the NJPAC in Newark are fairly sure bets. It would probably be somewhat fun to see one of his shows at the Red Rocks in Denver or one of the the better outdoor venues out west. But when you consider (a.) not hearing the new album yet, and (b.) not seeing if the setlists are repetitious, I have no real impetus to travel...except for meeting some of the fine folks here in person of course... 8)
-
If he comes back to Philadelphia and Virginia, those would be closest to me. If I had the extra $$, I'd love to see him in that small venue in Oregon or Red Rocks. :P
-
Surely Vienna, as usual...
Cheers
-
Holland all of them of course!
Belgium sure
Some in Germany
Zurich or Basel
RAH and Newcastle and Edinburgh if possible with the dates
And I want to go to Oslo, Bergen and Stockholm (maybe Copenhagen as well)
So another 12 to 15 I guess
If dates suits me, as much as possible in the weekends, travelling from Holland is pretty easy
-
::) :D ;D ;) ??? :o :-\ :'(
-
Copenhagen: definitely, that's my local gig
Stockholm?
London?
Another one in Europe?
The opener ?
-
I will be at a concert in my country and hope to meet all the fans I met last year again and also new fans this time! :-*
We already have plans for a few years to visit Edingburgh, so this is my change...........Yeahhhhh, I would love to be there too when Mark is there for his concert! I see that Dusty, Val, Draad, Canbe, Waterline Man and Ingrid PERHAPS might be there, so that would be wonderful!!! ;D IF we can't go there, then I would like to go to London RAH. Of course I would love to attent more concerts, BUT it all depends on the money and IF we can get off work.
Last year we went to Norwich for the party of Ingrid and Nigel (BBB) and stayed in a Travel lodge and we were satisfied with the accomodation, so might stay there next time too when we go to Edingburgh or London.
Btw Sunday I will meet Superval in Amsterdam! ...........Yeaahhhh I am looking forward to meet her and her husband again! ;D

On second thought, after all the money I spent on Britney Spears tickets this year, I doubt I'll be able to afford MK tickets next year. Priorities, you know...

Edinburgh (this time duty )
RAH or Newcastle
Copenhagen or Stockholm (would be nice to visit this cities )
Zurich or Basel
probably one gig in Holland
hope to meet many of you ...

I'm really excited.!!!!!
I've just had my cousin over for the day. He lives in the US (Philadelphia)
He is in the UK doing some work for the RAF.
He said there would be no problem us staying with him in the US next year if we wanted a short holiday. Of course that got my brain thinking. Hey i might be able to coincide a summer trip with a few MK gigs in Philadelphia. ;D
I checked with the wife, and she said that's fine. :-*
So fingers crossed i may see Mr Knopfler in the US next year.
WOHOOOOOOOOO. 8)
-
Philly isn't far away from NYC either, go to Radio City!
-
ALL OF THEM!!! WOOOOOOO!!!!!
-
Wow BBB, exciting!!

Just be prepared to undergo some intense interrogation downtown BBB. ;)
-
Milano

-
Amsterdam and 1 or 2 RAH shows.
I hope to see a tour list soon so that I can make it final.

No, I can't due to my kids. They are too small for a concert tour, so I'll pick out some gems...
-
gems in europe, or in the us? will you do all of europe again?? ;D ;D
-

Both. Some venues I'll avoid as they don't do for more than an average show which I learnt over the years.
BTW, anyone going to see EC at the RAH? Fancy to meet for a drink?
