Not specific to Ferrone, but I can't stand no more drum solo that excess the minute long.

Agree. There's no "me" in band.

in my opinion a drum solo is a solo wasted. waste of time. pls gimme guitar.

I play drums and I agree, a drum solo is boring, unless you can play some nice groove variations, that I think fits better than just banging faster and faster...

As Ringo Starr once said, 'I play the song'. He mean he doesn't want to solo over it, and 'play' it instead. A good point :clap
That's why we can't hear so many drum solos on Beatles records. Is Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End counts? ;D

Ringo never wanted to play a drum solo, but paul and the others insisted a lot for him to play one in THE END, just before guitar solos played by the 3 other beatles. therefore, the last song from their last record (her majesty doesn't count as it is a mistake made by an EMI enginneer) feature a solo part from each band member
Ringo finally accepted, but "it would be the only one in my career" he said, "never again !"

I´m drummer, and i think that never of the 2 points are good (plays a lot of solos or dont play any solo)
The good drummer need to have her moment on the stage, needing of good drum solos
-
Ringo admitted he stole that solo from "In a gadda da Vida" :)

Did you heard Charlie Watts does some?
The most impressive drummer I witnessed live is Steve Jordan behind Eric Clapton in 2006.
And I don't remember he did a single one during the concert but the beat was incredible.
A drum solo is good when accurate.

Exactly, a good drum solo is good when its rhythmic, when it explores grooves, and if are related to the own song groove, the better.
Calling Elvis drum solo was very groovy, but Mfn solo at the end in Nines 92 was just noise and noise.
Simon Phillips is a master of groovy solos, his solos in Toto's Hydra are excellent.

I agree with you, Julio. Chris Whitten just make noise and molest noise during the final of Money for nothing in the OES Tour
