He's asked if he could've joined any band which one would it have been.
It's then posed to him what would it have been like to have two "big guitarists at the head of a band" and he says he "isn't anywhere near the guitarist Mark Knopfler is."
He's then asked why DS have never got back together. He answers by saying "because he's got a brain in his head, he doesn't need the money...apart from that, he has new ideas every year."

I remember reading in an itw that Chris said something like "I must admit that DS' sucess helped my career a lot"
