Hi verybody, listening the mexican version of WII, which contains an adittional strophe, and listening the SACD, realized that there is a longer version (5,57 vs 5,40) only in the stereo source (the multichannel is 5,40 as well).
The song is mostly the same till 3,55, when different licks appears. Played both syncronized, so you can see when the music desincronize. Is very soft, and very difficult to discover only hearing every version separately.
My 10 cents.

Like the longer STP version on the Private Investigations 2005 (best of MK & Dire Straits) compilation?

STP begins at: 32.41
extra part between 36.39 and 37.00

Correct, Dutchessy, I checked it, an both are the same versions, the one from the SACD and the one form the Private Investigations compilation.

So you are a little late with your discovery (11 years) ;D (better late than never ;))
I do like the slightly longer version :)

Ah, all clear now, thanks!

I never understood the Do America/One More Matinee hazzle, those songs should have been included on every STP release. Accidentally I listened the album a few times this week, probably MK's best solo record to date.

Do America shouldn't have been on any release! How many times does he say "do" again? :lol

Typical flip side song.

Same for Darling pretty which is longer on that compilation album. And it has a different vocal take as well

Indeed, also a minor change in 'Calling Elvis', where there is an 'echo' at 'is there anybody home' in the middle of the song.
