Looks like Mark is going to compose some film music in the future...
...as quoted from Dr. Fletch :)
"There is a site that talks about a film that will be titled "Homage to Catalonia", based in a book by George Orwell, that probably will have Colin Firth and Kevin Spacey as actors, and it mentions that the score will be composed by MK. Is it any true? It says the filming will happen in 2010. The link is http://www.screendaily.com/hugh-hudson-to-adapt-george-orwells-homage-to-catalonia/5001327.article >>> Dr Fletch answers: >>> Yep"
Great news I think, I miss Mark's film work.

me too! that would be an interesting one I would think...

More good news! I love MK's film scores too! :D
How much more good news can we take? :D

Forgive me for not getting too excited about this, but the times when MK has done film score or production work before it has usually led to longer gaps between "real" albums. I like to listen to the film or production work every now and then, but it the real DS or MK albums that really do it for me. MK has had his most productive period ever recently, straight back into the studio after the last tour. I guess he won't be able to do that again if he has to work on a film score. :-\

I understand what you're saying, dusty, because I too wouldn't like another film score to get in the way of more albums as we have become used to, ie every two years or so, but it's still an exciting prospect. :) The thing is, selfishly, I want it as well as, not instead of. ;)

to me shot at glory and wag the dog re the exception here, both great albums in their own right..

Have to agree Pottel. I love ALL the soundtracks. Some of Mark's finest playing imho.
I'd of course love an endless stream of NEW music from Mark, but in a way, if you have to wait a little sometimes, when it does come, it makes it that bit more special. :)
I'm just glad he's still writing, recording and performing, and hope he is for many more years to come.
Cheers BBB

I like Wag the Dog and Shot at Glory as well, but I wouldn't put them above any of MK's solo albums.

I love MK's soundtracks and I am glad we're going to get a new one! I agree with Dusty that it may delay the next album but we have one in the box, ready to be released, and I am so looking forward to it (and the tour that will follow) that I cannot project myself further in the future and feel sorry that the next album may come out in 2012 rather than 2011!

This is great news for me. His soundtracks are some of my favorites. But then, what isn't. I hope that this is really really true. In an interview a number of years ago, he said that he had been asked to do Maverick (James Garner,Jodie Foster, and Gibson). He said yes, but he wanted to do the theme music, but not the 'falling off a cliff' music. So they went with someone else. I hope that that glitch doesn't happen this time. But perhaps he's working on it right now! He's said he's tired of screen scores, but it's been a while, and maybe the work feels fresher to him by now.

I understand your concerns Dusty. Personally I think it is great :)
Another way of looking at it is at least MK is willing to keep working! I dread the day the MK hangs up his guitar...

Well,
If Mark has again interest in side project, hum I would say I would have favor to a new, hum, a new Straits album :-X

I love MK scores, and in some way, I like them most than his solo albums. His latest three scores were simple amazing to me, Wag the dog was great, with lot of guitar, very good songs, Metroland had some very touching songs as "she

I used to talk with a friend that maybe it would be great if MK try to make instrumentals for his own records, but he never did it even I
