Governor Sanford just breathed a huge sigh of relief...
-
i only mentioned it because of his early musical heritage. not coz of his shadowy dealings with minors. i think we should respect that musical heritage.i have never been a fan, but do respect this legacy. i would do the same thing when madonna should die.

ooh, now i get it dan.
did not know who sanford was until i read the newspaper this morning...lol those cheeky republicans!! ;D

RIP Michael. I wasn't a huge fan, but I did buy Bad and dangerous. In fact, Dangerous was the first CD I ever bought. He was of course found innocent in a court of law for what it's worth.
And there is an MK connection, MK was invited to play on the Bad album, but declined.

Very sad, for most of his life he was an outstanding entertainer. Too much spotlight for a normal healthy life. RIP

RIP Michael,I hope that people will remember him for the good things that he did in his life & the enjoyment that he gave to his worlwide fans.I suppose like a lot more we sort of grew up in the Michael Jackson King Of Pop era so its a bit sad when someone like him passes away at such a young age :(.
I would hope though that his passing may make parents who want their kids to be the next winner of the X factor or Britans/US got talent realise that exposing their kids to that sort of media attention at an early stage of life may have serious long term effects on their personality & health.

:'( RIP Michael Jackson.Even though I didn't listen to him that much I have always respected him for what he was.I thank him for supporting my country (Kosovo) during our 1999 war with the charity concert he made ,many children were homeless and a lot of people died tragically .I was very young by that time but I remember my sister talking about him.I hope he finds his peace in heaven.

RIP Michael. The World has lost a great musician.

A poor tortured soul... :'(

Not so sure it was just the early media attention that f****d him up so much.... but whatever the reasons, he was a sick man and a genius, the two often go together.
I was never particularly a fan, even in the eighties but I can't deny he was HUGE.

All good points TC, but just as being found "innocent" in a court of law doesn't necessarily mean that he WAS innocent, similarly being accused of these crimes more than once doesn't necessarily mean he was guilty either, particularly when he made a huge payment to the first accuser and thereby creating an incentive for other people to make simlilar accusations. Now, you can say that even in doing so he was proving his guilt - "Why would he pay the money if he was innocent?", but in Jackson's case I can see why he might do just that. Imagine you had hundreds of millions of dollars and somebody was saying all these terrible things about you, and you could just pay a few of them to make them stop. Now, if it was me, I would want to fight to prove my innocence, but having seen what Jackson's like over the years I can why he might see that as an appealing option. I guess we'll never know now.
What I do find interesting is that there's a certain amount of hypocrisy over this issue. For example, Pete Townshend downloaded child porn and got a slap on the wrist. Gary Glitter did the same and got a slap on the wrist. Everybody knows Jimmy Page was having sex with a 14 year old in the 70s, but he's a hero. Can you imagine the reaction if Michael Jackson had done the same thing?

I'm sorry to tell that i never liked his music, but i'm also sorry for his fan :(

So was O.J. Simpson. Take it from a ten year veteran of Law Enforcement.. an acquittal in a court of law does not mean he was innocent. And as a Child Abuse Detective, I think I have a particularly valid take on this topic. Jackson was a classic child molester who manipulated and coerced his victims into doing things that they knew were wrong. He was accused more than once, and I don't care how "great" of a pop icon he was... if it was your child he molested, you would not be singing his praises. (That is not directed at any one person here, just a general statement.) I have seen first hand the results of such abuse, and it sickens and scars children for the rest of their lives. I am so sick of celebrities being given a free pass on illegal behavior simply because they are "talented geniuses."
Just my two cents. Not trying to change anyone else's opinion of the guy, just stating my opinion.
Peace.
I would have send to jail the parents that used to carry their children to MJ villa/entertainment park and to let them to sleep there. Don't you think they knew that MJ had a disturbed personality? I can't judge MJ because I can't know what really happened there, but I can judge the parents who think to make easy money over their children's skin.
For the rest I agree with you: I am tired too of rich and powerful persons who are above the law; and here in Italy they govern us >:(

Just a little note: I also think it is weird that parents brought their children to Neverland and especial let them sleep there! ::)
I liked the music of Michael Jackson very much in the 70ties and 80ties! I even have the vinyl LP album "Ben"! I bought it in 1972 when I was about 14. Just like Michael I am 50 too and hope to live a LOT longer then he did. Knowing he died because of an heart attack let me realize it can happen to me also, although...........I am healthy and don't need pills and live a normal life! ;)
Despite what he MIGHT have done, he is and for me always will be one of the best musicians of those years and he was especial one of the best dancers I have ever seen. I loved to watch the videos of this albums Off the Wall, Thriller and Bad and wished I could dance like he did! ;D
Michael was a musical genius, but it is such a pity that he changed inthe 90ties and became a weird and strange person that acted as if he was living in another world!
His children and family are in my thoughts!

I don`t think we`ll ever know the truth about Michaels controversies. Only the folk involved know.
This banter reminds me of the great Chris Rock stand up, "Another Kid? Thats like another dead white girl turning up at OJs house!..."
Check it out on Youtube, very naughty but funny.

Correct Rudiger, spot on,the parents are as much to blame as anyone else for putting their kids in that situation.
