This allows to perceive new textures in the songs, it is possible to perceive in more detail very curious things that were hidden, some surprising.

Is that a keayboard sound in it?

no keyboard on southbound again. it's David's guitar
Ingo talked about that, long ago.
It's a wrong wiring (out of phase) in sound monitoring that allows you to hear instruments more proeminent that in the normal mix
other examples in Skateaway, Calling Elvis, In the gallery...

Two things stand out to me - one being pretty obvious: Mark's right hand is astonishing. The other one... well, after listening to it I understand why David was so bored and wanted out.

David work is more listenable live than in studio...

I know, but it's boring to play either way, especially if you have a creative soul like David does.

Another sound wonder of the first Dire Straits album.
I would like your opinions about this experiment.
I have no words to describe such mastery of this master's guitar work. What an amazing and delicious rhythm!

yes indeed we often focus on his lead guitar work, but his rhyhtm playing is sometimes far more difficult to play than his solos
most notable examples are : setting me up, in the gallery, once upon a time, single handed sailor, skateaway, one way gal, man of peace, cleaning windows...and of course many others

I recall It never rains and industrial ndisease was interesting to do this experiment.

Don’t forget to mention that he plays those parts and sings at the same time. It’s insane, the dude must have two brains.
