They’re just making the statement that Dire Straits Legends and similar acts are fake because Dire Straits without Mark Knopfler is not, can never be and ain’t even anything near Dire Straits. The comparisons they use to make that statement are an attempt at humour which you may like or dislike. But I agree with the point they’re trying to make.

Post by: cannibals on August 30, 2018, 10:18:23 PM: Don't make to much out off it. They are just saying that Dire Straits without Mark is like Bob without Dylan, drugs without xtc and so on. In a way it is a complimenten for MK. Without him there would never had been any DS.

DS without Mark is not DS so it's like drinking non-alcoholic beer, no matter how much you have of it you'll never get high. That being said, I can't read a word of this article but if that's the logic to it I support it.
