LYRICS

People say ‘Where have you been?’
Or ‘Where did you go?’
I’m a slow learner
I do everything slow
It’s my way, has to be true
The world goes by me fast
But where you’re concerned
I like good things to last
Where’s the point in worrying
If we should start a little late
Where’s the point in hurrying
When waiting feels so great?
I’m a slow burner
My last train left a while ago
I’m a slow learner
I do everything slow

So where’s the point in worrying
If we should start a little late
And where’s the point in hurrying
When waiting feels so great?
I’m a slow burner
My last train left a while ago
I’m a slow learner
I do everything slow

Yeah, I’m a slow burner
My last train left a while ago
I’m a slow learner
I do everything slow

Mark mentioned in a Finnish interview that it's about himself (which I mean is known already really, but just confirmed)

Mark mentioned in a Finnish interview that it's about himself
I have always understood it this way

It's pretty obvious as he has used the term several times in many interviews.

Matchstick man and Pale imitations too.
I'm looking forward.

To me, completely uninteresting lyrics.

To me, completely uninteresting lyrics.

The lyrics are the best part!  They aren't attached to any kind of music of note.  You know how he often says that he has to wait years sometimes for the music to come along?  Well, it never came!  Very poor song.

To me this one and When You Leave are definitely among the best tracks on the album: no synthesizers, no ambient sounds, live instruments, live voice, beautiful melody. Great!

Melody?  Something I have yet to detect in this song.  WYL is a nice song though, I agree.

Not a strong melody, but there is a small and smoth pattern. The melody of "When you leave" reminds me "Yesterday" sometimes.
