Such a nice song from Shangri-la, which would also be a good one to play live next tour with DC on percussion. Anyhow, to my surprise today I learned that the cd single / bonus dvd version is an edit missing 30 seconds and the full version is just out there on Mark’s official channel: https://youtu.be/8ZMwLBfkHIs

Yep, I'm a fan of Summer of Love too...nice to hear the extended playout.
As a song, I also think it would work well live....but the chances of us hearing it live?.......tiny I'm afraid!

Indeed, real small chance. But it would be nice and very suitable for a live setting.
It would also be a good one for Richard to have a moment to shine playing lead guitar. I think he’s not given as much spotlight time as he deserves, moreover his rythm parts always seem to be burried within de mix, and everytime one of the folkies pick up a stringed instrument it’s very much present.

this version is not only longer, it has a different mix :
- guitars not on the same channel as the original version
- the shout "ah !" at the start of Richard's solo has disapeared
- the keyboards are more proeminent : organ on the middle eight, and piano on the outro

Different vocal take as well!

ah I didn't notice. are you sure ? isnt' it just that it's a little bit more burried in the mix ?

One of the best songs of Mark since 1996.

This version is indeed different that the one in the cd single, the end is different, some different guitar things by Richard, also some different keyboards from Jim and different vocal takes from MK...

I suspect they might had used different takes for the Shangri-la video clips, judging by this different Summer of love... We should check the others just in case...
By the way, should this topic be merged with the summer of love one inside Shangri-la thread?
