A new CD coming out from legendary producer Trevor Horn with orchestral re-interpretations of 80's classics.
The one popping out for this forum is

"Brothers In Arms" with....Simple Minds !!

I never heard anything from Trevor himself before, so I'm curious...

Searching further on the net showed me Trevor joining "Dire Straits Legacy" (brrr... :-X) on stage this year, so the song was maybe not a surprise.
Curious about the Simple Minds addition to the song...

If you've heard Video Killed The Radio Star then you've heard Trevor. :)

I wonder how/why a greatly respected producer like Horn ended up playing bass in a tribute band.

Because when he owned Sarm studios (previously known as island studios and basing street studios) Phil Palmer was one of the studio sessions musicians and they are friends. Trevor sold the studios some years ago so it's likely he's boring.

I notice the album states 'with Jim Kerr' not Simple Minds

and for those who don't know much about Jim Kerr of Simple Minds

I like it, powerful orchestral arrangement.

Yes, I like it too.. problem is that you await that powerful Les Paul guitar sound that never comes. Wonder if MK was asked to accompany? as it would have so worked to have him play on it...
Anyway it's most certainly passable..
