Title: MK's Worst Lyric Ever?
Post by: dustyvalentino on August 10, 2009, 01:14:50 PM
A couple of real stinkers here from MK, but which is worse?  :)

(And before people start having a go at me "All of MK's lyrics are good, this is very insulting to MK etc etc etc", this is just a bit of fun.)

I voted for the 1st one, because I love the truffling line! Especially the way he says truff-a-ling. I can think of much worse MK lyrics than those 2 lines!

My vote would go for...

"I love the chicks, don`t get me wrong. Hey thats why i wrote this song...."

Groan! ::)

Ah Fletch, that's awful too. I remember having an argument at school once about how great DS were and I almost had to concede defeat when my opponent quoted that one.

I'll add it to the poll. :)

Dusty did you remember the arena doc about Dire Straits? There was a part with Mark reading his notebook.

I got one! I got one!  ;D

"I wonder if there's no forever, no walking hand in hand down the yellow brick road to never never land...."

Hmm, I'm vetoing those (It's my poll, so I can do what I want!)

Rollergirl, I almost included that TLWNF, not because it's that bad a lyric, but because it really has nothing to do with the rest of the song.

WM, I know where you're coming from with DCTA - it just sounds out of place when MK swears, ever. Also, it doesn't make sense, Bush handing over to Bush... what the hell happened to Clinton? But apart from that it's not that bad a lyric.

And Whoop De Doo is a great lyric, what are you talking about man?!

"Wam, bam, it don't take long..." taken by itself-quite strange!

I understand the line "Bush. . . . Bush."    Clinton was irrelavent in this instance.   Bush the First didn't do that much damage, but Bush the Second could never have been elected without the dyanastical (is that a word?) influence.  Bush II continued his father's conservative policies with no intelligence or decent judgment at all.   Like Henry VI after Henry V, even to the point of his not being able to think enough to rule for himself, allowing corrupt powers behind him to influcence every thing he did.
Uh, am I ranting? :o

Well I always liked the "It's the end of the thirties/there's no time for arties."I think it says a lot more .The end of thirties that means the beginning of World War ll and he talks about that artist over in Poland ,we all know Poland has suffered a lot during WWll and there was no time for arties .And with the Get Lucky lyric I like the way it sounds even though I don't know what Truffling means(not a native English speaker)but i like it.

First of all, welcome to the greatest MK forum in the world Al!

I know what you're saying, but the song's written as if it's one President doing a handover to the other, whereas there were of course 8 years and countless interns in between the two Bush's.

OK, first of all he doesn't sing about an artist over in Poland, the artist character singing the song is just saying that it's not a good time to become an artist because war is breaking out over in Poland.

Truffling is looking for truffles, they are buried undergound so you get a do or a pig to sniff them out. So if you have a truffle dog, you can go truffling!

Still a terrible lyric though!

The Heavy Fuel lines seem to be in line with the character of the song. I like them.

I like the Heavy Fuel lyric.   I love the truffle dog.   So, that leaves, by elimination the thirties/arties line.

In the meantime, Jeb Bush, governor of Florida was the other Bush I son, brother to Bush II. At one time they planned to run him for president also for the fiasco of the Florida 2000 election.    But you are right, Matt.   It was interrupted.

And I love the lyrics to Whoop de doo.   :)

Do America must be MK's noisiest song ever. Too bad really, the keyboards drown the guitar riffs out. The lyrics are tongue-in-cheek.

I'd hate to bump this thread, but this one just hit me:

"I've seen this rocking cat. Oh, I want to be just like that."

Having been a little kid during that period, seeing DA hairstyles, and the 'stovepipe'/'drainpipe' pants of the late 50s and early 60s, I think it's funny.   Guys did call one another 'cats' in those days.   It seemed corny to me, even then.

Funny thing!! Reminds me when I was trying to work out the lyrics when this track got posted on MK.com 2 years ago for the first time.

In my first draft (I nearly typed daft then ........ maybe I should'ave) I wrote "this Russian Cat". Back in the USSR hey!!!!! :-[ :P
