Yesterday in Stupinigi we had a support act!
at 19.00 on stage we had mr. Mc Goldrick and Mr. Mc Cusker plaiyng 5 scottish folks songs....
They said it was the first time that Mark allow them to do a personal gig before the main show...
Very nice...

I find this very interesting indeed because since the brassies came in I've noticed our folkies have been given a lot less to do, especially in the light of Marbletown and Privateering being dropped from the set. In fact, they don't really have much of note. Not only does this break the monotony of the static (and decreasing) setlist, it also allows them to actually play something. To be honest I've felt a little sorry for them this tour.

Still the brass especially Tom looks so bored at his part of MFN intro :lol
Has it been 3-4 concerts in a row now with 14-15 songs? Down the decreasing road wherever :lol
Or Airport sh-t again?...this can be avoided..

It's absolutely normal with MK tours that the set list gets shorter the closer to the tour end they get. Usually the quality or the versions gets better ( I am not able to judge this time) . So it's fair of MK to give the first audiences more songs and longer shows as some sort of compensation so to say but you would assume the quality rises with rising show numbers. When buying tickets for the open air summer part of his tours and the last couple of shows, you should have in mind that you will get shorter sets. Always.

True to an extent, although I think there is usually a point where the quality peaks, then they sound jaded. The last few shows it has sounded to me as though the shows have been shortened because they (Mark actually) is tired and already peaked.

The Carcassonne concert I attended in 2013 was almost at the end of the tour, 24th July and it is still one of my favourite concerts, both for the wonderful atmosphere in the old arena and the music. The fact that the set list was down to 14 songs didn't matter one bit.
