As most people know, I am a huge fan of Phil Collins.
I have some sad news to pass on:
http://www.mirror.co.uk/celebs/news/2009/09/10/exclusive-phil-collins-reveals-he-will-never-drum-again-due-to-spine-injury-115875-21662312/
Fortunately, he can still sing, so we can look forward to hearing more of his excellent songs.

Su're he can get the gorilla to fill in for him on the drums & he can sing away :o :o

Wot, sold 150 million albums?? More than Marky! wtf... :o

Yes that's very sad news. I always hoped to see Phil one more time like the
"Finally The First Farewell Tour" dvd.

Sigh, so how will he perform In the Air Tonight then? :(
-
not anymore is my wild guess.

:( :o

Damn, Genesis tours are one of several tours I will always regret skipping.
But seriously, if you're in pain, it's time to give it up.

Quoted from Genesis-music.com:
10.09.09 Statement from Phil Collins
10 September 2009
In the UK press today, there appeared some articles about Phil's physical state, with some slightly misleading headlines. Here, in Phil's own words, are how he describes his situation:
"There isn't any drama regarding my 'disability' and playing drums.
Somehow during the last Genesis tour I dislocated some vertebrae in my upper neck and that affected my hands. After a successful operation on my neck, my hands still can't function normally.
"Maybe in a year or so it will change, but for now it is impossible for me to play drums or piano. I am not in any 'distressed' state, stuff happens in life."

As lots of us know, it's a matter of nerve damage. It takes a long time to heal nerves.

Wow, I didn't know about this.

I was at this concert of Phil Collins. It was the first time in my life that Jans and I attended a concert. Phil was in 2004 in the Amsterdam Arena. In the past we didn't have the money to go to concerts, neither the possibility. When I saw at TV a concert of Phil in Germany after the fall of the wall (I think it was in 1990), I was speechless. I enjoyed to listen to all the beautiful songs and at that time I told Jans, whenever he comes to visit our country I want to be there! So it took about 14 years, BUT I was there and it was a great day! ;D
It is a pity that Phil can't play the drums anymore. Just like Mark playing guitar, Phil is one of the best to play the drums. Well who knows what happens in future, medical things will become better and better, so I hope he will be able to play the drum again. At least he can still sing that is important too! ;)

Really not a good news, after Ringo Starr unable to play anymore, now Phil Collins.
