difficult to find the exact date. But, depends on sources, we can say it was 20 years ago today :
"A shot at glory" soundtrack, A pure gem in Mark's discography imho

Yes, that's right, more facts speak for 2001 ;)
-
But I agree all these dates (2000, 2001, 2002) are a real mess
this is what I tried to sum up in my first paragraph :)
-
It's truth :) Because they should print one year on the cover. Year of the album release.

This is a great soundtrack from Mark, I would love to watch Mark play Bass, just to see if he approaches it in the same way he does the guitar. It's interesting you mention the Mike Oldfield style thing with Hard Cases and Four in a Row, I can see what you mean, I have said elsewhere they do share a similar style in various ways, and on Mike's Celtic album Voyager, I can hear Mark's Celtic stylings a lot, in fact it could even be a Knopfler soundtrack album, listen to Celtic Rain for example. Voyager even has Liam O'Flynn and Sean Keane playing on it.
-
I agree, this is indeed a lovely soundtrack album from MK....
-
I always thought the sound quality was poor compared to the rest of MK’s output.

Like I said in my article, I guess it has been recorded and produced in a hurry, with a low budget. It can explain some differences in final output compared to other MK records

As far as I remember, it wasn't clear if the score would be released as the film was struggling to find its way to the film circuit. Actually I think it was released in DVD directly.
Luckily the score was released after more than a year on hold.
-
The film was shit.
-
I like the movie. A simple life story.
-
I watcehd to th film yesterady
Like always, some pieces of music you hear in the film are not the same takes as on the album

Oh yes, I agree. Every time I listen to it, I feel the same: the "A shot at glory" soundtrack is one of MK's best film scores, if not the best, at least for me. I've always thought that the last song of the album -- Wild mountain thyme -- would have been a perfect intro for Going home during live shows…
It's nice to have a topic about it and it's nice to have a chronicle too -- great chronicle btw -- thank you JF.

I remember being surprised. Soundtrack and Mark sings? In three songs. It was new. A beautiful album. But "Four In A Row" still controversial :)

How is it controversial?

I was not prepared for a mix of techno-folk :)
This beat was controversial to me.
It's a GF job :)
-
Ah ok, I liked it!

After 20 years I like it too :)

not the first time Mark sang in a soundtrack. He already done it in Wag the dog and Metroland
-
I love "four in a row" ! if Mark could have played such fast guitar in his solo albums.... ::)

Don't buy anything from this seller. Everything from grest-93; vinylt_87 and lotv_10 are fakes. There's a British gang that produces and sells fake CD-singles and promos. I did this mistake at least 4 times and won auctions probably overbidding one of you. Watch out!
-
I always thought the sound quality was poor compared to the rest of MK’s output.
i actually really liked this one. i would even go as far as to say this and Wag are my favourite soundtracks!

I agree with you Mr P, I listen to both A shot at glory and Wag way more than any other of MKs soundtrack albums....
