some weeks ago, the Dire Straits Instagram official account "DireStraitsHQ" posted a question " Which record are you spinning first?" with a picture showing all abums but no OES...
don't you find it strange ? :think

There is Alchemy. Why is there no On the Night? Strange.

This is just a photo by a fan and not intended to be an example of the full DS discography in vinyl. So not such a big deal to me.

yes. but strange that it was posted on the official account

True, but for many people, On Every Street may be the first album:)

Me!

Not for me. My first one was 'Dire Straits'. Still very precious to me, but my favourite is 'Communique'.

Yeah, who cares, just sharing a nice fan photo.

yes of course, I have no problem with that. its is just that I found a little bit strange that the official account shared it with THAT caption : " Which record are you spinning first?" like if it was their whole discography
-
I'd assume the account is being operated by a marketing agency. They just had this nice photo and didn't know about the discography. If I remember correctly, investment banks invested in the back catalogue of many artists by holding shares.

ouch !!
a band account being operated by "someone" who don't know the essential things about the band...
well, you may be right, but if this the case, that's really sad...

I don't think this is the case. Ed sold some of his rights but I believe MK and JI still essentially own DS.

You can see the latest DS finances here. Seems 2021 was a much better year than 2020 (although note the accounts only go up to March)

It's still just an Ikea Kallax like the rest of us though isn't it?!
