I was very sorry to see this morning that we now have new sections devoted to different countries (languages). I feel this is a backward step, because one of the reasons why this forum is so successful is because we are largely one happy family, all talking together about the thing we care about most - MK and his music! I feel that this latest move is divisive and exclusive, for obvious reasons and could be to the detriment of this wonderful forum! I sincerely hope not. :( More sections do not make better forums!
-
My thoughts entirely. We should be one big round friendly all inclusive group with no corners.
-
I was about to post something similar (in Google Dutch ;D). I hate it when I am not able to understand everything!
-
I think I agree.. But maybe someone could explain why.
-
I agree. we don't need corners ;)
-
But it's a SUBforum. The important subjects stay in the mainforum right?
We can give it a chance i think...
-
:) ;) I like the idea of sections for other languages and have thought about having the availability on AMIT for some time now. It is just another thing which makes AMIT different to the other MK forums and provides non-English speaking/writing fans with the opportunity to be involved with the best MK forum on the net. It will probably break the ice for many who have thought about posting but were not confident enough in their English skills to involve themselves in the general discussion boards.

in my opinion all this will harm the main forum. more doesn't mean better. how about a poll?
-
Good idea! :)

Just in English. I think this forum don't need sections devoted to different countries.
In The Netherlands we have 2 hyves, in France they have (correct me if I am wrong) AFMK and in the Uk they have MKNews forum ( ;D )
But this is just my opinion.

In France we have AFMK but you have to PAY to Join it... So it's really a pity... So it can be usefull for some french people...who doesn't want to pay...
there is another one too... but it doesn't work very much yet lol... Lets see with AMIT who knows :)
-
I rather have NO country sections in the forum, everything is great just the way it is :D
-
It's just a joke with all these languages I hope. I don't take it too serious anyway. ;D
I really can't type in French, my German (writing) skills are below average, maybe I should practice a little bit... But still... :P
-
I must admit, my 1st impressions are to be not too keen on the idea, but easy for me to say because i'm English, & 99% of ALL posts are in English, but if it does genuinely help people out, then it might be worth persevering with it. I just thought everything was ok as it was. :)
Cheers BBB

:) ;) I thought it may just give some people with other than English as their language of choice a chance to start to become involved with us here at AMIT. :)
-
We should give it a chance I think, i`m only 15 now and my english is not very good.
But, I`m learning a lot when

Valid point. We could try it out for a while, and evaluate later :)
-
If it aint broke, don't fix it; it seems such a shame to dabble with such an excellent forum just for the sake of change.
-
I have mixed feelings about this section. It is fantastic that Dutch and Belgian people can meet at the Dutch section and talk about Mark. Especial those who didn
-
Fieneke, You have expressed your feelings on this subject much more eloquently than I could ever have done and I am English! LOL! ::)
I think, as I already have said, that it could divide our lovely forum, but if we keep these different sections, I think it should be as a fun thing. For instance, my German is very basic and it was nice for me to test the small amount I know! It could also encourage those who are not confident in the English language, to talk on the main forum. The more serious and important discussions should be kept to the main parts of the forum.
The worst thing that could happen is that we become divided into our separate countries and talk amongst ourselves! ::)

Uuuhhhh .....uuuuhhh *watching my dictionary now"* ;D.......Ooohhh Val, thank you for that compliment! :-*

I am also afraid that might happen! :-\
Btw I can talk and read German, but writing is very difficult and I know a few French words really a "petit peu"...... words like "'je t
-
i just see these subparts as little homes for people who want to say something in the main part, but lack the english knowledge needed to do so. and sometimes it is just easier to post in your native language.
for me the main forum is the "english" one.
-
Fieneke, I am laughing out loud at your knowledge of the French language! Of course, they are the most important phrases to know, especially if you meet Mark! :o :P
-
ahemmm, as a native French speaker, I know that these are the most important phrases you can know in French, and the Brits love the accent (oulala!!) ;D ;D
-
It's alright Pottel! ;)
Haha Val and Rollergirl............I might disappoint Mark because I didn't shout .."ENCORE....ENCORE!!!" :P ;D
OMG I need to stop talking like this. I have to think about my reputation being a decent lady! ;D
Fieneke
-
Wow, Fieneke. I really admire your story. I wish that more US Americans felt that way and were not so lazy about learning other languages.
-
Fieneke, I always wonder also if Mark knows French? Spanish? "Je suis desole" "El macho"
The main forum will always still be where we all hang out , so " why worry?"
-

Thank you Marie!! :-*
ROFL Nelly! Yeahhh also Jans didn't know what those words meant in the beginning! I knew the meaning and that is why I had fun singing it! ;D .......Ooohhh well it was a great song and I just added a video of that song of 1975 to a section at my own forum. ;)

I'm pretty sure MK understands french ! BTW
Me too. I remember a RTL interview where he hardly needed the english translation. It's a pity he never tried to speak french on a french radio or TV, just for the fun of it :)

yes ! i was in the RTL2 studio... before it was translated he answered !!! That would have been cute if he replied in French ! Sexy british accent i'm sure LOL ( yes you all brits are are sexy when u speak french !!)
-
Hello,
lol Fieneke ;D I think he understands perfectly those sentences you wrote (they are maybe not the most apropriate for a first encounter though LOL ;D).
True Nelly: Mark has a very sexy accent when he speaks in French ;)
He's so shy anyway, I don't know if he'll agree to speak more than one or two words of French in an interview.
I read in an interview Mark saying he's surprised that French people love to hear him trying to speak in French. Of course we do!! It's really touching (and sexy, true LOL).
Cheers,
Yolande.

I suppose he's pretty shy... and doesn't dare to speak French in case of a mistake...lol but you know men are so.... well Men !! ;D

So this thread about sub threads turned into a sub thread of the drool section... :-*
Ladies,

-
Yes! Isn't that great? We can turn everything into a drool section! ;D
-
Is it just me or are the English language section's quieter now that there are these new sections. Why change a winning formula? Also, has one been opened up for our American friends - they of backward dates and sidewalks? Only kidding BTW! ;)

it was easily predictable :(

It's you ;D
The new sections are not bursting with posts either. We're just all too busy listening to Get Lucky
-
:) ;) Yes that is true Rollergirl and there is also a seasonal element in the stats as well. September averages 2555 posts since AMIT was started, compared to a normal monthly average of 1047. September 2009 is the highest traffic month on record for Amit when we had 3073 posts. There have been 573 posts for October 2009 till now, with about 4 out of every 5 being in the English sections. Another factor which may have impacted the October figure is the whole day we lost due to a technical glitch and the subsequent slow speeds for pages to load which Dan seems to have corrected for us now. Keep up the good work Dan and thanks for all you do for AMIT behind the scenes. ;)
-
yup, agree to that ian...
-
Indeed, the forum was very slow at my place the last two weeks (for some reason). I could read the forum from time to time but posting wasn't easy. Anyway, it's now up and running! ;D
-
LOL as you see DMG and Rudiger the Dutch section has only one post and 3 pages, but that is because we were talking about meeting each other at the concert of Mark last year! ;)
It seems, except the group of fans who had an appointment and met each other in the caf

This may be a little off topic, but I would love to know just how many nationalities are represented between us all. I am charmed to know and converse with so many different-speaking people!
