anyone recognises the acoustic intro played by mark before the start of Devil Baby in Amsterdam 30.03???

This is really bugging me now, and i'm probably miles away, but it sounds like it 's off the Mark Knopfler/Chet Atkins cd 'Neck & Neck.
At first i thought it was from 'There'll be some changes made' or possibly 'I'll see you in my dreams'
But like i say, i've probably embarrased myself by being way off mark. :-\
Put me out of my misery Pottel. ???

no i don't, it's been bugging me all day now...

Ohhh. I thought it was a little comp, and you were going to tell me i was the winner. ;)
I'll have another think about it later, cos i'm sure i've heard it somewhere.

maybed you can do it whilst listening to Newcastle that i just uploaded... :-P

Thanks. Downloading as we speak. ;D

Just downloaded it. Definitely nothing off Neck and Neck. Doesn't really sound like Chet either, but I could be wrong. MK doen't really play in the Chet style, Chet used all 5 fingers (on the right hand), MK just uses 3. :)

Could be wrong here, but sounds like 'The Next Time I'm In Town' to me

aaah, people, you would love the Johnny Cash version on that one, that i wanted to upload on the tracker, but it got banned as it was not knopfler enough, mark was so proud about that...
-
The funny thing about the JC version is that it has a "middle 8" that's not in the original. I guess we have to assume that JC added this himself.
-
a middle 8??

The bit that goes on about "playing jukebox music, singing old country songs".
There's a great live DVD available where he plays it:

And if your goto YouTube and search for Johnny Cash-The Next Time I'm In Town, you can watch him play it.
