Hi,
Long time (since 85) DS fan here.
I went to see a DS tribute band recently in Whitley Bay and have just heard their lead singer has died in a motorbike crash.
I am maybe naively trying to get the below message through to Mark. I have found a few addresses for management companies and have sent the email to them. If any of you know how to contact Mark can you let me know or forward the below message to him.
This is what I sent.

A few months ago I went to see a tribute band called Straits UK.

The lead singer, Andrew, was a wonderful tribute to Mark and also a really nice guy who spoke to me graciously and humbly (shying away from praise and complimenting his band mates) after the concert.
In the band was his Dad.
He tragically died in a motorbike accident last Sunday - https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/news/north-east-news/dads-tribute-talented-dire-straits-29660107
He asked his dad for the keys to his motorbike which he agreed to. Now his Dad is blaming himself for his son's death for agreeing to lend him his keys.
It would be wonderful if Mark could contact his Dad in some way as I think he alone has the "power" to lessen his grief. On the facebook page I linked to above are several videos of Andrew performing.
This is a long shot - Mark has touched millions of peoples' lives with his music (mine included - favourite is "telegraph road"), but I think if he got in touch with Andrew's Dad then this act would possibly have the most powerful emotional impact of potentially anything he has done in his wonderful career.
Thanks for reading.
Ben

Hoping someone can help.

Hi Ben
This is very sad to hear.
Possibly the best way to get a message through would be via Guy Fletcher

Or you could try to message MK’s manager

Thanks very much for responding - much appreciated

Andrew was a wonderful & talented lad, taken far too early. A huge loss to Tyneside's musical family.

So sad to hear this. My condolences to his family.

I have just read it. My deepest condolences. I'm sure a small gesture from Mark would be of great help and some comfort to his family. If there is any response from his entourage please let us know.

I don't understand how people can ride motorcycles. In this year alone, I heard 3 or 4 people I knew in one way or another either injuring or killing themselves with these machines of death. Hell, Mark himself nearly lost his life in one of these, cancelled the entire tour and recovered for a year because of one careless driver. Especially sports bikes that can go as fast as a bullet, while you're sitting on it almost naked. I just can't get it...
Terribly depressing story! My deepest condolences, indeed. The worst thing that can happen to a man is to be a parent who outlives his child.
