Hi
Just had a great listen to the OTN and MFN. As you all know MK wrote MFN in a kitchen appliance store in New York. Sometime at around 1984 I guess.
MK called the guy with the now famous quotes for a meathead.
The "meathead" said "that aint working", "chicks for free", "Maybe get a blister on your little finger" "Hawaiian noises" "Bangin' on the bongos like a chimpanzee" among others.
Did that guy ever come forward ? (saying that must have been me...)
Spoken words can’t be copyrighted as they do not make a composition as such, but MK should have given him a really good present ;D for such openly good inspiration.

I'm also thinking about Sultans Of Swing :)

No, that guy never came forward. MK mentioned him in interviews, but no one admitted to being the “meathead.”
Maybe it’s for the best, now it’s a legend. MK should have sent him something cool, maybe a guitar? 😄
Greetings, Andrew :-) (https://mazzani.pl/projektant-wnetrz-cennik-warszawa/)

This is the more surprising one for me.
I can remember the name of every band I've ever been in so if this actually happened you would think the members would have turned up in some sort of newspaper article at some point.

He said recently he wouldn’t write MFN these days as it was punching down on a working class guy.

always absolutely baffled me as well...

My theory is Mark was just so drunk he started seeing things... As you've said, there's absolutely NO way no band or human beings never claimed any connection to such a big song. It would be known right after the song became a hit. Even the Rüdiger guy is known and there are pictures of him, and yet "Sultans Of Swing" is still a virtual band.

I tend to think the same. Either he was drunk or he smoked something funny.

But Mark talks about this band in interviews even today. Besides, The White Swan club was not virtual.

I was about to assume exactly the same two points you and Quizzy made. Or he misunderstood the announcement and only thought he had heard them announce "we are the Sultans Of Swing".
