Title: Sultans of Swing, if it was written in the '80s!
Post by: LaszloB on September 20, 2024, 08:06:14 PM
Hi again!

The last few weeks I've been working on this little project. I've been very much into the 80s/90s synthwave lately and I thought that type of style would be fun to match with this classic song.
I took a LOT of creative liberties for this one, for example:

- I changed one chord (the A7 to Am7), to make it go down a little smoother.
- I asked a friend to do a female vocal part
- I invited a saxophone player to come up with the first solo
- I beefed up the final solo with some typical '80s overplaying (sweep picking, tapping, that sort of stuff)

This type of music is not for everyone, I personally grew up on shows like Miami Vice and Knight Rider and love it.
Let me know what you think of it!

Very successful and creative, my friend. You played it without that famous cheesy air of the eighties and preserving the spirit of the song. Even a little bit of The War on Drugs vibes.Congratulations :clap

Thank you! To be honest, since that cheesy air is so linked to the eighties, I did want to touch on that a bit, but I'm glad I didn't overdo it then, hahah.
