Ed said we'll never know the real reason for the OES tour, and that's just fine.
I wouldn't even want to speculate in a serious way.
But can we have a fun thread to speculate about the most absurd reasons for that tour?
(If this is a bad idea, just go ahead and delete it!)
My theory is this: some fine day between 1986 and 1989, MK lost his favourite guitar pick, but he couldn't remember where and when exactly. So he told Ed to plan a tour that would take him back to all the hotels he'd stayed at during that time, which would save him a lot of travel expenses, of course. :-)
Theory 2: a feud with a neighbour about the garden gnomes?

It's funny. As I'm a huge magic tricks fan as another user here (MagicElliott?), I'd speculate that the real reason must be very stupid or ugly if nobody wants to share it. So ironically, by sharing wrong answers only people might fire within the range of truth.
I can't come up with a decent wrong answer now, but I encourage everybody to try it, it's a fun thought experiment.
