Happy 40th birthday to Brothers in Arms.
I guess your life begins now. :)

I always thought it was May 17th. Never mind. My first CD in my life. I couldn't listen to it for a long time but my mother knew about it and helped me buy a CD player. I'll never forget that.

It says online 13th May - to be fair in those days I think albums got released on different dates in different countries.
I didn't get a CD player until 1991... but OES and BiA were two of the first CDs I bought.

According to this, it entered the Billboard chart in the US on June 8th 1985... at number 54.

The Wikipedia reference to 17th May is taken from this:
https://worldradiohistory.com/UK/Music-Week/1985/Music-Week-1985-05-11.pdf
The final page is a cool looking ad for BiA which confirms the UK release date of 17th May.

Fantastic article, one of the best I’ve read for years! And so nice to see the whole magazine too, a true piece of history. Thank you!!
And Mark wrote a little song called Secondary Waltz…

40 years anniversary. A nice reason to celebrate. And it is not even their best album.
