Title: Dire Straits make 7th in poll
Post by: Banjo99uk on December 03, 2009, 06:23:30 PM
PRS the same people who've just honoured DS held a poll in the UK to see which band they'd most like to see reform.

Top ten bands fans want to see reformed (where majority of members are still alive) are: 1, Abba; 2, The Police; 3, Pink Floyd; 4, The Smiths; 5, Oasis; 6. The Jam; 7.Dire Straits; 8, The Clash; 9, Spice Girls; 10, Sex Pistols

i think that is not bad at all, considering the ones that did not even make the list.
only thing that disturbs me is friggin smiths and oasis in front of our boys..

I think this is pretty impressive. I guess people forgot about Led Zeppelin.

Abba had a load of brilliant singles.

I guess people don't realise that there's really no difference between an MK solo gig and a DS reunion.

Ha, yes I forgot about Genesis.

I personally would love to see The Smiths live, although Morrissey puts on a very good solo show with Smiths material.

Not bothered about The Jam or Oasis, seen Oasis live twice and they are a very boring live band.

Jesus... Oasis have only been split for a couple of weeks  :o

DS Should be top of that list no doubt!!!

Another crappy poll of meaningless stupidity!!!!!

The  Police shouldn't be on there as they have already reformed and toured!!

I just don't get what people see in Abba.  Catchy enough tunes but simple lyrics and no great musicianship, one can hardly say they're a great band.

Stupid list anyway 'cos some have already reformed as has already been said and Oasis have only just split!

I couldn't dissagree more, the thing with ABBA is, its eay to think they are ordinary singers and musicians, but the more you hear them and watch them you realise that the girls were amazing singers, and the songs are very well written and intricate, and Benny and Bjorn are amazing musicians.

You know, this is a bit embarassing, but I used to have a major crush on the blonde one out of Abba, I used to have all sorts of dirty fantasies and stuff.

I was gutted when he got married to Frida.

Abba - yes, the songs are brilliant and the blonde would make any hot blooded man happy forever..... *blush*  i mean FOREVER!

BTW - there was a Canadian folk singer died today( i forget her name) but our radio played one of her songs and MK was PLAYING guitar!!!! I kid you not. Ay info????? The guitar was distinct if a little over played. The song had "over and over" a fair bit in the lyrics... sorry for the lack of info, but i`d appreciate any education???

Oh man, must be one of the McGarrigle sisters. That's terrible. One of them is Rufus Wainwright's mother and they work often with Emmylou Harris.

And the song you mention, Love Over and Over is hands down MK's best collaboration and one of my all time favourite songs of all time.

RIP.  :(

I have that song a few years now. When I just joined the MKnews forum somebody burned a CD for me and this song was at the CD also. I never knew why this song was there, because I didn't recognize Mark's voice or music!  ;D .......Well now I know why it was there!  :-[

As always thank you for the information! ;)
