It was nice to read that also Chad was asked to play the drums at the new album of Pieta Brown!

Great from Richard to tell us THIS story, too... Do you also think life on tour with MK might not always be guns and roses?

Oh well, I am VERY sure, there is a lot we don't know. Some years ago there was the famous phrase "we we're on auto-pilot" and it it's absolutely understandable that this band has its mood swings. There are only humans after all.

So, if you ask me, the captain of this little battleship is a rigorous boss - and if something goes really down the drain, you better hide for the next day...

But that may appeal to other members of this divine band!

Quite funny to hear some comments from Richard and Guy about small rooms... although they don't seem to care about travelling on the bus instead of the plane.

I dont know how Metaliica got involved in this thread, but you must see Some Kind Of Monster, it's hilarious! Real Spinal Tap stuff, fly on the wall magic.

Ol' Dicko's been quite grumpy on this tour diary compared to others IMO.  Of course hotel rooms are smaller in Europe compared to USA where everything is bigger.  Getting from your en suite to your bed is like a landscape to be negociated!

It was a 2/3/4 hour drive through the night - delete as appropriate.
X was the DJ and he played great stuff.
We ate Y and it was fab, washed down with Z.
Before you know it, we're at our hotel.
My room was big/small/smelly/amazing - delete as appropriate.
Optional insert - I had ? for breakfast. Best ever.
The gym was good/bad/quiet/busy - delete as appropriate.
Insert brief history of town here.
Before you know it we're off to the gig.
We soundchecked after Bob
Into catering.
The band were really great and so was the crowd.
Mark did/didn't play with Bob.
It was a 2/3/4 hour drive through the night... :P

It wasn't a nasty post, he used a smiley. Smileys are the internet equivalent of diplomatic immunity.

I liked the post. To quote Homer Simpson, "It's funny 'cause it's true."

Still love Richard's diary though, especially now Isaac is gone.

I found it funny rather than nasty too. This scheme seems to be the skeleton of every entry but I still look forward reading it every day. Great entertainment, especially when you can't make it to any gig this time around.

No, in A Year and a half in the life of Metallica" they are in their private jet on the runway and they see another band in a private jet and Lars says "Is that Dire Straits?" But they don't take the piss. Great doc.

Some kind of monster is very bizarre. Rock group going through therapy on film

Difficult to believe but no harm intended and all tongue in cheek. Guy and Richard don't need to do what they do and everything they do do for fans is appreciated I'm sure. I do tend to find the diary posts less interesting as the tour goes by however. They can be pretty samey.

what i want to know is how they keep their clothes/underwear clean as they are only in each hotel for a short period of time .

A great, legendary deejay/presenter passed away yesterday here in the UK called Sir Jimmy Saville.  In a documentary he said that when he was away from home he only took one pair of underpants with him and washed them in the hotel wash hand basin before he went to bed so they were dry and clean for him in the morning.  That way he only needed to take one pair of underpants with him!  Needless to say he was just a little eccentric! ;D

so each person has a flunkie that will was the underware otherwise surely it would get all mixed up.This is keeping me awake at night.
Oh Issac doesn't appear to shower or wash the whole tour so he only needs one pair.If he did surely it would be in his blog.If it ain't there it didn't happen

Me too. But I gave this a lot of thought last night and I imagine that Mark writes his name on the label of his M&S y-fronts in biro so that one flunky will suffice on undercracker patrol.

Richard has posted his last diary entry for this tour. Some nice lines and interesting thoughs about Mr. Bob. It seems Mark is indeed the only one from the band who has met Bob. He also talks about rushing into the studio directly from the stage and doing two weeks of session work for Mark's new album.

Thought I might share it here, because this diary was a nice companion during the tour for me, so thanks Richard for your Notes From The Road!

You know..you would think that Bob might want to break bread..or at least a few cocktails with this fine group of musicians. Mark obviously spent a great deal of time with Bob's bandmates. I know it's just 'Bob being Bob'....but it's still a little rude. Thankfully Richard doesn't seem to take it to heart..and it was a pleasure to read his diaries.

Although Mark probably has his awkward sides for the guys to deal with, he must be so more easygoing and reasonable than Dylan. I wonder what Dylan's band think after having been around Mark and the boys for a while. "You mean, we could have had this??"

I'm liking the fact that they're heading straight into the studio just after such a well perfomed tour. The energy level seems to be on its highest.

This can only be good and you'll most certainly hear all this coming down on the fortcoming album!

Great times ahead!

Well, Mark being Mark I think it is most likely.

By the way, yesterday GF wrote:"As soon as I have some free time at home, about three weeks from now"
(question was: "When will you be back on the golf course? ")

Richard has written in his latest entry:

The recording we did in London these past couple of weeks with Mark was nothing short of brilliant.... the songs, performances as well as a couple of the guests that joined us for a few days each; Tim O'Brien and harmonica legend Kim Wilson.  No idea when this new record will be released but I think it's safe to say sometime in 2012.

Plus some music written and played by his son, Nick!   :)
