Me too!
Btw thanks a lot for posting the songs, and also to pottel for reporting, surely he had a great time tonight! It really means a lot to us who couldn't attend a concert this tour.
-
No, I don't feel bitter, but it would have been nice to have been there when it happened. I just hope some good footage will emerge, so we can all enjoy it! :P
-
Don't get me wrong, Nottingham was one
of the best gigs I ever attended, but i'd loved
to have seen them for just one song together at least.
A jealous BBB ;)

Thanks Sir Dogg, pottel and Goldenheart for keeping us informed! :)

Pottel said he will record this gig ,right ? :)

I feel a bit bitter, a day after Rotterdam they start playing together on 3/4 songs :-\

I think we can rest assured that Bob is very happy with Mark's work on stage.

But leaving during Bob's set... that's disrespectful!!!

But leaving during Bob's set... that's disrespectful!!!
Yeah it is. Kind of ironic given who's the opening act. Oh well, both acts suffer and gain equally from this arrangement I suppose.
Blind Willie so early, that was definitely so that Mark could play on it!

More and more MK on Bobs set. Fantastic !!! Now 4 songs.
and especially on "3 Blind Willie McTell (Mark on guitar)" How was that ??, thats one my few favorite Dylan songs.
I sincerely hope it will continue on wednesday in Denmark. WOW....
Cheers Peter
-
Hi all,
Last night I stayed for the first songs of Bob, lucky me :D
MK on guitar first 4 songs as you have seen. In Things have Changed it was really great! The others were nice as well, but on THC Mark really got the chance to have big influence.
Now only one to go, that will be Zurich.
Have fun all friends on the concerts I won't attend, I will read your reviews here.
-
I fully understand people that walk out from the Dylan set. I don't see disrecpect, only some people that dons't enjoy what they are witnessing. Isn't the basic rule "take it or leave it"?
When you choose someone like MK to open for you, you take the risk to get a part of the audience that does not come for you, and especially in BD case won't follow you in your trip finding what you are doing utterly unpleasant. Double bill, double-edged.
That said I am happy for those who were lucky to attend this show and dreamed for years of a Blind Willie McTell duet.
It is a bit like touching the Holly Grail. I guess that that was the most awaited thing in the MK/BD fan base. Done now, what's next?
-
I'm so pleased to hear that you all had such a wonderful experience last night! I wish I could have been there too - I would have given an arm and a leg to have witnessed "Blind Willie"! :P
-
Hi from an internet cafe still in Oberhausen! Funny to read this thread after being there, it seems Pottels mobile had some energy left...
I left, too, but not because of Bob... I thought he was great - but during the break I felt a headache coming up... must have been the bad and too warm air in the venue, so after Bob had played half of his set, it got worse with me and his harmonica was so loud that I felt my head was about to explode in the next minutes so I left at the beginning of AATW... Have not missed too much.
So sorry to all the nice people I met, Ingrid, Pottel, Marc96, Dennis, Jeroen van Tol, and all the other ones... I was about to meet you after the concert again but "I had to leave out in a hurry..." trying to get to the bus before they close the door... and get some aspirin...
Mark was absolutely faszinating. I cant understand how he is doing it: Getting better and better. The new LP sounds really awesome, he got standing ovations and applause d u r i n g the Hill Farmers solo. However, he was looking a little bit tired although they had a day off, but he was not SOUNDING tired at all. I loved the whole thing and was so glad to be just exactly at that place in that moment.
The sound was phantastic, too, his voice is really great, I heard not one single little greenie (I am sure others did). I was about to ask him if he wants to marry me if you know what I mean... In my next life I want to be one of Marks guitars...
Then Bobs set: His band was very happy to see Mark with them, you could see that it meant something to them to have this great artist on stage. Mark seemed a little shy and played his ass off, and it sounded great. #Not sure if everybody in the audeence noticed how special and great it was to hear them play Blind Wille! The audience seemed a little bored during bobs set, Mark had received much more energy and cheer. I thought bobs fans were rushing to the stage from song number one one, but the security guards were real assholes. Ingrid will tell you about them, too!
Sorry I have a problem with this pc editor ehere...
so thats it for short, I am still in a very good mood, Mark gives you something with his pure appearence that leaves you inspired for days and weeks.
But once again:
Bob was not bad, I thought his singing was sharp, clear, poewrful and good as in earlier years. He had some good energy #on stage but shouwed also some strange manierisms like touching his hair/curls all the time, touching his face, treying to get rid of his sweat, and making strange moves with his legs all thime. And his keyboard playing was the most unusual thing: I had the impression of a child trying to be funny, he never played good or cool, it always reminded me of Guys "Calling Elvis" competition fun piece he had some years ago if you know what I mean. I saw some women looking really disturbed and consternated when he did that. Bis band howeer really played well, that guitar guy didnt change his coguitar once during the whole set and he really needs a hair cut or his neck will break some day...
So that was it for now finally,
all the best,
LE

Pottel, have you seen how much Lepidus uses your info? You should get a cut of his royalties man! ;)
-
where?? fletch, where??
-
The home page of ER almost always has a link. Lepidus gets paid per hit apparently, the latest is your info from the Blind Willie duet...
-
Actually, sorry, Lep is quoting this post....
According to LE there was a friendly pat on the shoulder between Bob and MK before MK left the stage, but I'm sure he'll tell you more tomorrow. Wow, that must have been a real treat! I have high hopes for Mannheim now :)
Imagine getting paid for quoting fan forums, pretty good job.
-
Wot, this bastard! ;D
Well, he cannot spoil my day today. I read some harsh review about the last two shows of Bob, and people already commented about Bob, too, being bad and wracked-off and stuff, but I really cannot agree. I thought he was great. However, during the second song he was really playing solo guitar, bad as always, and I thought, wow, how ignorant/arrogant/selfconfident you must be to do so when one of the greatest guitar players of all time stands on your right and just plays along... But that was one of the best songs of the evening from Bobs set.
Bobs whole set list was really great. If he had asked me to make up a list, I think more than the half of his set would have been on my wish list. I am kind of proud that I recognized every song ;D before the chorus, seems I must have had my Dylan right during the last decades...

Just listening to the recording of Mark's part from this show. As great as it is, someone should tell Mark to stop saying those same old corny lines before Done With Bonaparte. Terrible! Haha. Actually, he probably should stop playing DWB altogether ...
-
Firstly, many thanks to pottel for his recording of this show - the sound is pretty good too! :)
I have only listened to the four songs with Mark and with the exception of "It aint me babe" I enjoyed them very much! I just cannot understand why Dylan asks MK to join him on stage and then plays lead guitar, with disastrous results! ::)
I liked "Blind Willie" very much, but once again BD plays that dratted harmonica all over, what would have been, a great MK solo!
Probably the best of the four was "Things Have Changed" with some fine guitar by MK.
"Leopardskin Pill-Box Hat" was fine, but I think I preferred the version from the previous show, because MK's guitar was higher in the mix!
Thanks Pottel! :D

Your words in MK's ear.
By the way, is there some way to get hold of the recording without logging in to dime etc?
-
I'll put it on Rapidshare for you.
EDIT:
Sorry, I have downloaded the Luxembourg show with Mark, but only Dylan from Oberhausen.
-
I liked very much the way the cittern is played by Mike McGoldrick during Cleaning My Gun. It is a rhythm part that was not there during the last tour. Gives the song a new drive and energy in my opinion.

Apparently, there was a broadcast vehicle parked outside. By looking at the pictures, they interviewed some fans after the show, but I do wonder if they recorded the show(s) at well?

I am probably missing something, but can somebody tell me where I find the recording of this show? :) Thanks!
