I am so jealous. My sister got invited by a friends' family and is able to see the show, for not more than 50 Euros! :o She went to several shows with me during the last years. I don't want to bother her with messaging the set list etc. but I hope to hear a little first review from her during the break...
Joko will be there, too! Maybe he will post us some "news"!

I like the MK logo at the venue...
;D
-
yeahm noticed that little detail too :-)
i also liked the LED's shining "Mark Knopfler" at the Ahoy in Rotterdam (see Guy's diary)
-
I'll go today to Munich too. Without ticket. I'm hoping to buy one at the hall.
Can't wait till the concert in N

Thanks, Jbaent!
I'll text the setlist in the breake ;)
Not sure about record. I have Iphone and a Fotocam, but I'd like to be focused on the show, not on recording.

Sonny is a highlight of the show!

dg must be donegan's yes... First time this tour?

Sonny is a highlight of the show!
LE
No it's not :disbelief

I love it! It's very powerful! And I have to admit that Ian does a good job on that song....

1 Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat (Mark on guitar, Bob on keyboard)
2 It Ain't Me Babe (Mark and Bob on guitar)
3 Things Have Changed (Mark on guitar).
And thats all.

MK's world is so divided.
Me too hate this song. But hey that is part of the game.
-
So what's about Donegan now? Any confirmation?

Yeah, you're right - but is there a bad song? For me it's all about the whole experience, hey I even do enjoy Bonaparte...well sometimes
;D

Oh, thanks for the setlist! Donegan is a surprise, it's a pity that "Haul Away" hasn't been played tonight.

Maybe I should talk to a shrink... but there's NO song I don't like...
Some people say, "that's because you're in love..." , sure I am, I got his music under my skin !
I could admit that I've been bored of Bonaparte until 2010... then I started to LOVE it.... odd?? Better later than never.
-
:) Me too knopflerized! I have some I like more than others - some that I once loved fall back a bit and I often re-discover ones that I wasn't keen on first time around.
Case in point "Sucker row". I heard it on one of my compilations the other day, and the atmosphere in that song puts you right into a smoke filled/seedy Newcastle night club back in the 60's....I think Mark recorded it lying down the guitar is so laid back..
-
Here is what Bob played tonight, I copied it from Sirdogg from ER, hope he doesn't mind...
1 Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat (Mark on guitar, Bob on keyboard)
2 It Ain't Me Babe (Mark and Bob on guitar)
3 Things Have Changed (Mark on guitar)
4 Man In The Long Black Coat
5 Summer Days
6 Simple Twist Of Fate
7 High Water (For Charley Patton)
8 A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall
9 Highway 61 Revisited
10 Forgetful Heart
11 Thunder On The Mountain
12 Ballad Of A Thin Man
13 All Along The Watchtower
14 Like A Rolling Stone
15 Blowin' In The Wind
--end of show--
Blowin' In The Wind was played for the first time on this tour.

Thanks LE!

Maybe I should talk to a shrink... but there's NO song I don't like...
This may be the wrong place to continue a discussion like this, however, I listened to Fare Thee Well Northumberland today, and whilst a nice little ditty I couldn't help but imagine the guys from Union Station singing Man of Constant Sorrow. Marks song seems very weak in comparison.
But hey, horses for courses, I'm a fan of Bonaparte these days! :) A year ago I'd never would think that was possible, ha ha!

I read a first review about Munich and it was a very good one - "Dylan enthuses Munich". It was said that, compared to Oberhausen, where obviously hundreds of people left the venue, the Munich audience was celebrating and rushing to the stage and that both Bob and Mark made a great impression and a very good three hour show...

Hundreds of people left the venue the day MK played with Bob 4 songs?
Obviously the MK thing with Bob is not working.
-
Sonny is a highlight of the show!
LE
Totally agree. ;D
-
dg??
Donegan's Gone??
yes
really gut version with this nice new intro and Ian has done a good job on the drums.
I love Privateering, wich I kept in my mind and sung on the way home.
And wonderful Sailing to Philadelphia
-
Jana, yes, I like what you say about the atmosphere making the whole thing good, it does raise the enjoyment, even if you are not a particular fan.
In mosts concerts I go to, the atmosphere does give me a kick, feels like I need that boost from time to time
Next boost is Bellowhead and I haven't seen them before
;D

There is another review about Munich in the SZ ...
http://www.sueddeutsche.de/muenchen/bob-dylan-in-muenchen-ein-richtig-gutes-schlechtes-konzert-1.1174465
Unbelievable what some journalists write ...
- how could the lyrics made this concert from BD to an experience ? ... it was impossible to understand his words, if ever only fragments
- and his voice ??? .... was horrible, really horrible
- MK was only support-act for Dylan ???
- MK entered the stage and tinkled a bit in the background ???
- not all people celebrated BD ... there were also (like Oberhausen, etc. ) hundreds of people leaving the venue early.
I have seen a very good 1,5 hour show ... made by Mark Knopfler and band.
-
Hi, Joko! Yeah, strange review. He also hasn't got his figures right, I think there were more than 8500 people?
Guy was talking about nearly 14000. My sister reported she has never seen the Olympiahalle that packed and had the suspicion that there were a lot of people with very well copied false tickets? She has heard rumours about it obviously today. A lot of people standing?
LE
-
Mark and band were fabulous ... from the beginning to the end. Perhaps highlighting imho Donegans gone, Marbletown and Speedway.
Though I missed more than one new song (i.e. corner beef city or haul away) this show belongs to the best one I attended so far.
I wonder why MK played this time only 3 songs with BD, whilst he did 4 in Oberhausen and 5 in Mannheim.
Is there something wrong ?

I was thinking about this today and I thought that maybe it was because they had a five hour drive to Leipzig after the show and needed to leave earlier than the other shows. I'm probably wrong, but who knows. :)

Yes, there must have been more than 8500 people ... but I dont know if 14000 is correct, though Guy should have a reliable source. I have also never seen the Olympiahalle so packed. False Tickets ? That can't be denied. I was first row and with the beginning of the BD show on the one seat left from mine quite suddenly sat two people ! Unbelievable ... but the security did nothing.
A lot of people standing?
After the stage run a lot of people were standing on the seats.
-
Thanks, Joko, nice to have a report from a "eye witness"... And could you tell me: Was Donegan sounding any different to the last tour, especially the intro? ;)
LE

Mark play also this Song with Bob
Blowin' In The Wind * w/ Mark Knopfler on Guitar

False Tickets ? That can't be denied.
Weren't they scanned?
Normaly each time a barcode has been scanned the ticket's id is stored in a database. If a second tix with same id is scanned it ought to be rejected.

I can't remember any MK show I have been to (in Germany) where my ticket has been scanned? ???

LE
yes, the intro and imho also ending of donegan sounded different. Difficult to explain it for me in detail. I think Mark used the slider in a different way. Probably we will get a recording by elliot.
-
yeah, elliot recorded the MK part of his last recording as well, so i am pretty sure that will pop up.

IIRC, they did scan them at the O2 world in Hamburg last year...

I have heard it, too.

Great version of Donegan. Lonny would be proud.

Yeah thank you very much! It sounds more familiar with the GL tour version than expected. Nice little violin by John as usual. And the intro is also not too
different apart from being a little bit longer...
Would have loved to hear it live.
A great version of it is also on the Simfy recording of the Glasgow 2010 show. With Phil Cunningham soloing on accordeon...
