Well, as many of you already read here:

It looks like they are gonna tour the US this summer. I asked Guy at his forum.
I decided to open this new thread. Moderators feel free to move it where you think its correct.
-
Guy has now deleted the post! ;)
-
Yes, he sent me an e-mail about it, very polite, and I understand why he did. I modified my posts in asnwer to his polite mail.
From now its a just a rumour. I also read about Tom Petty touring with Bob this summer, so maybe I was too fast opening this thread.
-
I'm pretty sure that it will happen, [....]
[...]
[Edited my post slightly in order to avoid any bewilderment]
-
I'm surprised at this- I assumed that Mark would want to concentrate on promoting his forthcoming album and do a major solo tour rather than play the supporting role again. Though I must say I'd be very happy to hear more songs done together.
-
If its a summer tour, it wont affect...
Lets play ;D
- February / March: Finish the record, mastering etc
- March / April / May: recording the film score
- June / July /August: touring the US with Dylan
- September: release the new record
- October / November / December: promos, showcases etc
- spring 2013, tour.
-
Yeah, I'm gonna try to play that game, too:
- February / March: Finish the record, mastering etc
- March / April / May: new album and promos, showcases etc
- June / July : recording the film score
- August: holiday
- September/October: touring with you-know-who
- October / November / December: holiday
- spring 2013, tour
I know, it's highly unlikely, because of that gap between a release in March and the consecutive tour in 2013....
-
If he does tour, what's the betting the set will be the same! ::)

yep since 2005, but hey all the legends do it when they get old.
-
nope, dylan doesn't. nor Gilmour
-
Julio, did Guy email you after reading this thread?
-
I don't know if he read this thread, he mailed me after delete my question in his forum.
-
GF:
We will be touring.... I'm thinking you will not be disappointed but obviously I cannot give ANY details...yet.
AND
There will be plenty of live dates, be assured of that.
-
Looks like Guy had second thoughts, after second thoughts. After delete my question and his answer, he has posted similar questions with similar answers suggesting that "something might/may happen".
-
Cool! If Bob is involved again, that means we can't rule out a tour of Australia, as he comes out here a fair bit!! Woo hoo!!!!
-
I like the idea, but Guy doesn't say it will be Bob. There will be livedates, we will not be disappointed. What do you think? Maybe I am going to be right that we will have a tour this year from MK ;D

Q:
Reading between the lines on some of your responses, it appears to me that there is another Dylan/Knopfler tour coming. I would hate to see that. I am a big fan of Dylan's, but would want to see a full concert set by MK and not the abbreviated set the dual tour provides. Any comment?
Guy
You will get your wish
............
But when? This year already?
-
Just read this from a forumer in EXPECTING RAIN called Nosferatu
Strange things!
According to my source there was indeed no plan to Tour this year.
There was never a plan to Tour with Petty. I wasn't told the reason but the talk about recently designed Tour posters was completely wrong and a joke of the Crew and perhaps even of Bob or the Band..
But since beginning of January there were indeed plans to Tour in South America (with MK!) in Spring (Between March and May).
Anyway they started to book locations and stopped everything a week ago. The order to stop came from Bob.
It's not sure what happens now, because they stopped proceedings but didn't cancel the locations.
There was also a plan to tour in USA west Coast ( with MK!!!) in June / July and Europe in Autumn. Also these plans got stopped.
Same thing happened 2008 were all plans got stopped (by order of Bob) but the proceedings continued two weeks later and the first dates arrived.
Let's see. Something is happening here and announcements even for South America might happen every day.
-
Oh my god jbaent, so the south american tour its a very possible situation. anyway march/may? and the rehearsal time and all the preparatives? its seems to soon for me to be real,

They have to be sure before they print them, sign contracts, print posters and have them around the town in order to spike the desire... There are a lot of things that take more than two days. We would see signs before the actual announcement.

I've been in many MK concerts without seeing any posters or anouncements in radios or tvs, so I wont worry about it.
Actually, if they have everything sorted (it looks like venues are booked) they only have to anounce the tour dates and put the tickets on sale, that can be done in two days if the rest is sorted. Sending tikets? Most of the ticket sellers can print and send tickets in two weeks, and if you collect them in the venue, even better. That means that the end of march or early april is perfectly suitable.
-
today on guy's forum:
Sorry but I don't know the touring schedule as yet although there is planning underway
-
I think that if mk wont be touring in south america the answer will be something like, "Im afraid no south america this time" but today answer makes me think that mark will be in south america
-
According to ER, the Dylan tour has been confirmed in a Brazilian newspaper!
-
I really hope MK is NOT doing another BD tour and that was it. I could perfectly live with another two or three months BD/MK double header tour, this time
US and South America, because then I would not have to care about getting tickets and holidays etc... Then he should release his album in Sept/Oct as
usual and come back next year to do a "real" MK tour...
LE
-
I really hope he does just that.
-
If MK does a tour this year with BD - fine, but I'm really looking forward to a proper MK tour next year that I can enjoy, without having to share him with Bob! ;)
-
From ER this morning:
Finally!!!! new dates are posted. Brazil, April 15th to 21st, Argentina, 26th and 27th, and Chile, April 30th.
And it's official: http://www.bobdylan.com/tour
-
I don't see MK taking himself and his band to S America for such a short time.
-
But if that tour continues to the US... It could make sense.
-
on john mccusker page there are no dates between February 23 and May 12 maybe the exact time to rehearsals and S.A tour + the answer of guy about S.A tour (although there is planning underway) makes me dont lose hopes yet
-
Confirmed by Guy, they are NOT touring South America with Dylan.

There are one or two rumours that Dylan will play European festivals this summer but I can't see those being with MK - but you never know, if Mark has nothing better to do with his time.
Anyway, one rumour is that there will be a press conference in Cortona today where the line-up for their arts and culture festival in August will be announced. Some apparently expect Dylan to be mentioned. IMHO, that would be premature. Even if Dylan's people have expressed an interest in this particular festival, I can't imagine that any contract will be signed until a series of dates at different places has been agreed, in which case we would surely have heard a number of other rumours by now. We shall see.

Bob Dylan Working on New Album at Jackson Browne's Studio
Bob Dylan is finally working on a new studio album, recording at the Los Angeles studio of Jackson Browne.
David Hidalgo, from Los Lobos, told the Apsen Times this week that he has been working with Bob on the record.
Hidalgo described the sessions as sounding nothing like Dylan had ever done.
-
I wonder if Mark got an invite to play on it. Being the gentleman he is..I would find it hard to believe that he didn't extend an invitation to Bob to visit BG while in London.

I feel sure that Mark would have invited him, but according to Guy, Mr Bob didn't go to BG - I think he said Stu Kimball did though.
-
I suppose it's possible that Mark was asked..and declined to make the trip to LA due to schedule conflicts with finishing the album mix. Even for a seasoned flyer like Mark..that's a hell of a chunk to take out of your schedule.

Just to keep a possible 2012 tour in mind, here is from JP of the ER forum from today:
"Of the fall tour? Not sure, there was a rumor Bob might do a later summer / ballpark tour first. MK was supposed to be October / November, so I guess they won't announce this right away."

saw that last night, but not really something new, right? ???

That's why I wrote: just to keep it in mind!
In these days of so little news it's nice to be reminded of maybe some live versions of new songs with the whole band and properly rehearsed and not having to wait sooooo long for the 2013 tour.
-
Usually I'm very patient between two tours but now I need fresh news to save me from desperation. Fresh good news. :-[

The most important part of this being "fresh good news". Which a Dylan tour/collaboration IS NOT, ffs. Go finish your next solo album, Mark, and leave Bob alone.

Personally, "fresh news" for me would be news about the new album eg title, cover art, exactly when it will be released and something about next year's tour dates. It would also be nice to know when and if MK will join BD on tour in the autumn - I would rather he concentrated on getting this new album released though! One good thing about him joining Bob on tour is the possibility of hearing some new songs from the album - a kind of showcase tour! :)
-
Over on the ER forum was another hint:
Fall tour with MK confirmed according to an unnamed man working for Bob.
I know it's neither completely new nor absolutely confirmed but still so nice a prospect for the second half of this year!
-
Plus Guy's answer today:
Q: Doc, Any chance you will be in the house band again for this year

Fall tour, in North America, or in Europe, or both?
Please ask if you can ;)

All the talk was only about a fall tour in the US, unfortunately.

In Europe ? You're a funny guy jbaent. But you're right to keep the faith. :)
-
As I have been saying for months, my own sources (who are pretty good) have said that MK and BD have reserved space in their diaries for a tour together this year and this autumn/fall in North America seemed most likely.
Both of them have new albums in the works. If those are released by then, which seems a decent bet, a tour of fairly major venues to support the release would be an eminently sensible move.
-
Hakuna Matata from one at ER sat on a plane back from the Mexico bob shows and in front of him sat a guy talking about him working in the BD tour crew. After asking he got the following reply:
late summer U.S. ballpark tour - currently booking venues, but he could not confirm whether this will be a ballpark tour or not
fall U.S. tour with MK - confirmed
I'm not going to give away his name or what he does. He was a super nice guy, very warm, down to earth and open to questions!
-
Confirmation enough for me. ;)
-
Wonderful :)
-
Exciting stuff, but how will this affect MK's normal schedule? Two US tours in the space of 12 months is unlikely.
-
I thought about it lately: Following the diary of the 2010 tour, it seems to me that the US are still a little "difficult" to tour for Mark - only very small venues, not that big audiences, maybe very expensive because of much travelling etc. So maybe MK kills two birds with one stone: Maybe a slightly longer set list as the 70 minutes from 2011, and that might it be for America. And after that, he tours Europe with a hopefully much longer set list - and without Bob! ;)

-
Is it confirmed that the band will join, or will it Not simply be Mark as an extra Special additional Guitar Player? Did Guy confirm anywhere the band's participation?

It will be just like Autumn 2011 Europe, but Stateside now.

I would put a little bet on this order of events:
new album release late summer/early Autumn
promos in London
MK/BD tour of USA and album promotion in States, Autumn 2012
MK tour of Europe early/spring 2013.
-
prolly promo in NL, UK and FR as well...and GER

My personal bet is no French promo this time and only 2 dates. :disbelief

He may well go back to The States as he did that with the Emmy tour.

Maybe some 2013 dates in australia or elsewhere if there's room in the schedule

These are all large arenas, they each have capacity of upwards of 18,000. When is the last time MK played North American venues of this size? Would have to be in the DS era. I suspect it's been a long time since BD played in these size arenas as well. Not being familiar with the European venues that MK & DS visited last year I don't know how large an audience they played to each night.
I would be (unhappily) surprised if MK & BD played in venues this large in NA. Does anyone else think that the tour will be in large arenas in NA?
-
Well, the european venues they visited last october/november has big capacity, probably around 8.000 and 15.000, I didnt checked everyone of them but I think some of them were quite big, hockey, basket, multipurposes arenas...
Its true that in US and Canada MK always plays theateRs and venues like that and they are always venues much smaller than the ones he fills in Europe, but if playing with Dylan, they had to acomodate audience for both artists, or choose venues with big bars so the fans from BD and/or MK can spend their time there while the other is playing ;D
By the way, the thing about monday, would it be an official anouncement or just that we will get more rumours?
