Don't think I have lots of time before and after the show. :'( Tomorrow I'll have a long working day so I'll probably be there 'just in time'. The day after I have my graduation presentation early in the morning... :smack Not a good combination though, but we'll enjoy the show anyhow! ;)

In the middle of block 616, halfway / in the middle (have to check which seats exactly) of the 4th row. Perfect view, facing the stage! Which seat do you have? Somewhere in the middle of the arena?

Right Stefan, we have block 103, row 7, seat 1,2,3,4
I will be with my nephew Samuel (you met him in 2010), the other ticket is for Maarten. At the venue we will see who is going to be where. Would prefer Samuel to see as much as possible. It's his only show this year.

Hello from Thalys, where I have unexpected Internet access !
This is one of these days where you get a "coup de folie" as we say in French. At a customer site for an audit, I read that Roman was selling a ticket for tonight. I thought in myself: "How great would it be to go...Nigel is back with his sax, and I have neven heard Going Home live... too bad it's impossible..."
Wait a minute... impossible.... impossible is not French, as Napoleon used to say. What would it take to be there ? Well, there is a direct train leaving a 4.00pm arriving at 7.15pm... so in theroy possible to reach there on time... provided I leave at 3.00pm latest... which is impossible, because I have to interview somebody at 3.30pm... well, do I really have to ? Maybe I could apologize and ask nicely to interview him, say, on thursday ? "sure, no problem" was the answer... and off I go... have found the New York Hotel... I didn't even take a toothbruth... let alone my pyjamas... but you what ? I don't give a damn ! Nigel, I'm coming ! Hopefully you will bring Sultans too !

Thanks again Roman ! :) See you at the venue !

Cheers

Fantastic at the album. Even better played live.

Fantastic at the album. Even better played live.

It's a song made to be played live and, like Sultans, always gets a rapturous applause.  Probably the most successful live song of recent tours too.  I think it may well be back because Ruth isn't there and fewer songs will be played early in the set. :think

For me it would be perfect if he played 3 DS songs every night  :)
1) Sultans
2) Telegraph
3) Brothers

Really? Bass low? You should have told me, I had plenty of bass in the back. Too much actually. Start of telegraph road and GH was WAY too loud. Couldn't hear anything except bass. ;D

After being stuck in traffic me and my dad made it just before showtime (yes). Next time I'll take a day off. Anyway, it was a great show, nice setlist. Personal highlights were IDUAD, gator, paraguay and going home.

Hello for Thalys again on the way back home...
Thanks a lot Ingrid, I love you too, you are really sweet ! :) So nice of you to send me to my hotel (which I had no idea where it was !). The best compliment I heard in my life was when Isaac told me: "man, you are strange !". I answered back: "you can't believe it ! you found somebody even crazier than you are ! at least, you plan the crazyness ! I don't !" :D
It was such an honour to meet you all, Dutchessy and Pottel - the AMITer in chief ! at last we meet ! lovely dicussion !
Thanks again to you all for making my day - and above all, thanks to Roman for the ticket ! :)
I fullfilled my dream: everything done with Ruth, and everything done with Nigel - all this in only 3 shows ! that's efficient ! :)

Overall a good show, good playing, great talk to Herlock, Maarten, Stefan and some others. I love you Herlock, just jump in the train and go having nothing else with you but your laptop from work ????
Best story of the tour imo

Really?

Bass was hardly to hear at row 7, but only on Postcards as said. Gator was indeed superb again.

20.000 people. Paul Union Jack! Good airco.

Guy confirmed that 12.000 people were there, not 20.000...

I thought indeed that the Lanxess was way bigger than the Ahoy, which has almost 12000

Lanxess Arena has a capacity of 20.000 maxium, 18.500 ice hockey, 19.000 handball, but a seated gig like MK's maybe has some casualties...

A few pics by myself from the Cologne-Show.
Arena, the Hyatt-Hotel, Mark in the terrace-area in front of the hotel and on stage. He didn´t realized that i have taken a photo while he was reading a newspaper and drinking a cup of coffee. Pure Mark, no securities.

Hmm, are you sure???  :think :think :think :think :think :think

Just compare his hair-cut, the shape of his nose, the cheeks, his shape of lips and the eyebrows with my stage-pics of Mark.  Sure, that scene caused a little bit of rumour on that afternoon in Cologne in front of Hyatt-Hotel, because some other fans were also astonished, like i was

OK, how i became aware of that. I was just sitting in the front of the Hyatt-Hotel, in a small pub-location. I drank an ice-cooled Weizenbier by Erdinger and a few times later a dutch DS Fan with a BIA-T-Shirt and a Guitar came to me and told me, that Mark was sitting in the guest-terrace-area in front of the hotel. I just looked on the left side, and then i have realized it completely. Sure, i had to think about it a little time, but i was personally not really in doubt, that it was Mark himself. I stood up and walked around to detect some other fellow fans, until i came close to the obscure autograph-hunters flock. As i walked closer to the main entrance of Hyatt-Hotel i met some other DS-Fans with big eyes in their faces. Then the Crew-Guy came out of the hotel and told us that it was Mark in person. That´s the story behind my picture. I don´t believe in double-persons in Mark Knopflers case. I´m sure he didn´t need them. Never.

On the other side of the Hotel main entrance were some obsessive autograph-hunters, but not loyal DS MK fans, because they wanted the signatures only, and i have realized, that they had no explicit music-historical background on the subject of Dire Straits. Someone from that group told others, that Mark has doubles, and that is one of his doubles, but i didn´t believe that. Never ever.

A few times later an english guy, possibly from the MK-Crew, came to some of us  fans out of the hotel, and he told us, that it is Mark himself reading a newspaper, no doubt. Then Mark disappeared, but some of the other musicians came out, like Guy Fletcher, Richard Bennett, Jim Cox, Glen Worf and John McCusker. I got some autographs by them, but the strange other autograph-maniacs didn´t want the autographs by the musicians. Strange and not trustworthy, those persons.

Shortly after the meeting with the muscians, i went to the stage-entrance of Lanxess-Arena and at around 3 o clock, the cars arrived there with Mark and the Band. Everything went perfect.
That´s my little report from that concert day.

Hello again. OK thank´s for your estimations. Yes it is very curious, that a person, who looks similar like Mark Knopfler, was sitting in the front of the hotel in Cologne and caused some attention to the appearing fans in front of the hotel. Some people there were of the opinion, that it was Mark and some others said that that man was a double or something like that. Funny anyway.  8)
Curios was the fact, that the group of autograph-hunters, whose i met there, didn´t want to get autographs by the group-members. As i said i met Guy Fletcher, Richard Bennett, Jim Cox and Glen Worf there. :think

This person is, obviously, very aware that he has a passing resemblance to MK and is having a bit of fun causing a ripple of excitement amongst some "fans".   If it had been MK he would almost certainly have been wearing his peaked cap.
