Hmmm...not sure, I guess it will depend on the lyrics of the song by the same name!
Btw, May in Europe means US leg in late summer or even the fall of 2015...
Let's hope it's true!
However, the safest thing to do is wait for the official announcements, as someone already pointed out, newspapers aren't always correct.
Guy has been saying for a while now that the announcements will be "soon", so let that day come please!!
Still, I think it's looking good. I don't know what I think of the title, but it does sound Privateering-ish to me.
I like the title of the album but does it mean that it will only be available as a download only? ;D
You're right, I forgot about the other (Norwegian?) one. The management must have already gone to the venues and everything.Let's hope it's true!

Thinking i was the one who found this article on the web and posted it on the tour 2015 section. Now reading all you're replies here on the post from Dutchessy really gives me a :) feeling :thumbsup :thumbsup
Hoping for some official news soon but i think it probably will be this week or the next. Anyway, will be surfing the net every now and then for some new dates and if i found one i will post it... :wave
Oh, and we all know one song from the new album now. A song called tracker :lol

On an African safari, a 'tracker' sits on a small seat that juts out from the 4x4 (Jeep, Toyota etc) to read the spoor (tracks and other signs) of wildlife in the area. Could be a great album title as the tracker seeks lions, elephants, rhinos, maybe even rabbits (not that they'd survive long). The imagery and themes of survival could be endless!
Note to Pottel - could you please edit my (real) name which I see no one does and change it to "Tracker"?

maybe a clue for the album flavour...acoustic, folkish, etc...well it wouldn't be a surprise at all

Like I said - no need for Chuck's input this time if it was just a simple acoustic job?

I don't think that will be acoustic because of many pictures in GF diary1 with electric guitars and amps!

It's Cadnam, by the way. Very cool idea by MK, I think every get-a-lifer now must find and visit this genuine Knopfler-field :lol
Yes, maybe true, but sometimes I still miss the days of albums such as LOG and MM with 5 or 7 tracks only.

Not yet.. Pre order is possible yes. Release early 2015... Maybe the only advantage is the cheap price.
Just for the record and for this thread, Guy confirmed that it will be a single album, so no double, but with a lot of bonus tracks (as he understands).
This "as I understand" is pretty astonishing, we had discussions about the release forms earlier. So it really seems to me that Mark says to the record company,"Here is a bunch of songs, these 12 to 16 I suggest for the album, I suggest this running order, here is a bunch of 3 to 8 bonus songs, for further use if you like. Do with it as you want to." This sounds not exactly the way MK is to be seen - as an artist of fullest control about everything..
However, great to have some bonussongs in sight! Question is, how many Deluxe boxes and Special Editons does one have to buy to get them all..

Just for the record and for this thread, Guy confirmed that it will be a single album, so no double, but with a lot of bonus tracks (as he understands).I think that he is obligated to offer some extra songs, in case the company issue a single (as Bsides) or to play the itunes, amazon promo game of special songs. I completely disagree with this logic, as a consumer, but unfortunately as a fan I always fall for this... Desire versus logic that will affect the releases eventually.

Never treated Roadrunning as a solo album, despite almost all songs written by MK. But since official site stated it like '9-th STUDIO album', so it makes sense. But his DS albums are also stuido, so why not '17-th studio album'? Including DS, Hillbillies and Neck And Neck. It should be 8-th solo studio album.
I don't like the lots of extra songs announcement at all

Many of you have enjoyed the cover, but I think it's just cheap. There's a shadow at the begining of the perspective, MK is too far and not focused, those electric poles cut oof the sense of "wilderness", and the position of the photo is slightly bent to the left. I'm sure vgonis would do a better job even with a cellphone.i honestly actually like all of that....sorry

Surely MK was on the OES cover?
Hey Nababo, how is your baby? And your new life as a father? Hope you are fine good buddy! :wave
Surely MK was on the OES cover?
Well, his boots were! :lol
And it is true that MK does NOT appear in any of the album (solo or DS) front covers, except live at the BBC.and also except MFN, but ok it's not an album, it's a best of....
in the early sixties it was the reverse : singles were the "main" product, while LPs were only a bunch of tunes put together mainly by the record company.
it changed in the mid sixties I guess, with Beatles (and other artists) who decided to make "albums"...
In reality the singles were losing ground from the 70ies on. Yes, there were making money out of them , but they were cheaply made and cheaply looking. They were revived for the disco as 12'' to have bigger grooves and to contain more beats and bass, and remixes. But in reality the product was the LP. And money were made if you sold vast amounts. Musicians made their living (and still do) not from selling records, but from airplay, usage of their music, concerts and merchandise. Only the ones that sell like bread receive checks from their record companies. The one hit wonders from the 60ies and 70ies solved their life problem, but it was not the same for the one hit wonders of the 80ies or 90ies. And it is not peculiar that singles started getting scarce as releases in the 00nds.
And it is true that MK does NOT appear in any of the album (solo or DS) front covers, except live at the BBC.
And it is true that MK does NOT appear in any of the album (solo or DS) front covers, except live at the BBC.
So you think they used a model for OES?

According to conspiracy theories, this model it's been in use instead of sir Paul until today. And his name is Billy Shears...

The Beatles are great but wasn't this a thread about TRACKER the new MK album?
LE
DS1984 you are right that there was an economy factor, but the "artistic" aim changed also : trying to create whole pieces of art, "albums" composed by several pieces that fit together, while the 50ies and early 60ies were more based on "individual" songs so to say

I agree with you LE but usually Artists like him doesn't want to go on Twitter or FB. They dislike the whole business and they're asking other member of their Team to post for them!! And frankly i don't blame them for that. In France we have several personnalities who have been insulted on their FB pages lately!!! And regarding MK, some friend of mine sent me yesterday the link to that crazy man who posted a very strange blog 2 years ago talking about the beginning of DS!! I won't name this lunatic because I was rather shocked and I don't want to start a new debate with this nonsense!!! ::)
What if Sultans not even played at all with all its twiddly bits? :)
Looks like Mark not ended up losing all of his fans around the globe.

So I just heard a part of a song on Mark's coming album 'Tracker'. Believe me, it's frickin' awesome!!!

According to a well known Spanish fan well informed, it looks like MK was not happy with the result or had second thoughts, and the post-production is taken (or took) much time than expected, I dont know if that was before or after the record was received at British Grove fully mastered from the USA, but it

LE, in regard to many points of discussion here in the last months I often referred to the in my view "offical" information that accompanied the announcing of the tour dates through the venues and ticket sellers like:
http://www.ticketline.co.uk/mark-knopfler#tour
I was critical about it, because in many regards it gave us more info than the mk.com site itself and the ticket sellers can only have the info from the management
The explicit mentioning of January instead of "early"
The revealing of touring band members
and that the tour would last to/till August
March for me. Guy's 'some months away' clearly points to ignoring January. March sounds about right. In fact, I think March 31st is looking ideal - my birthday!!
February 2nd is perfect to me. Groundhog's Day, and my birthday :D
Release date : probably end of january, according to GF forum
Q : I know you can neither confirm nor deny, but Guitarist UK magazine seems to think this will release in late Jan 2015 (tho that could change still). I guess it will land when its good and ready, but the earlier the better for most of us....
A :Correct
By the way, 2015 will be the 30th anniversary for Brothers In Arms. Isn't it's cool?
I wonder if Mark delayed Tracker release just to match these years.
In 1985 you get BiA in record stores to test you CD player, now...
Are there outtakes from BIA?
Are there outtakes from BIA?
Don't think there are any outtakes, due to the recording procedure, but I would love to hear some demos!
;D You got it right away dmg. If I remember correctly they had all the tracks down and were not happy with Terry's drumming and brought in Omar who did the work in a couple of days. So it was not cut "live" to have outtakes, only an extra scrapped Terry's drumming maybe, but surely it was never mixed. And if it was so bad to call an outside drummer, it would probably be very damaging for the "image" of the perfectionist MK had. And since we were never got the "extras" from the albums that every fan knew existed, it is highly unlike to get from these ones.

They not only cropped the cover, but added some gradient at the top, it looks more contrast now and cooler.

It's not a hoax. If you look at the WORK ID's Beryl started with the digits 887.
I searched again on ASCAP en selected just the song with WORK ID's that started with 887. If all the songs were uploaded at the same time then the numbers would be sequentially or in the vicinity of Beryl. That's all I did.

I ask myself why mk.com has always to be the last to announce the news?
I hope they put on something later in the day.
No "Tracker" song... First time if "Let it all go" counts as "Kill to get crimson" ;D
At the moment Amazon.co.uk only lists mp3-dowloads. I hope CD format will be added soon...
The official MK site still has Privateering as 'the new album' ::)
Box looks nice, I guess the DVD will just be the EPK, kind of hoping in vain it would be a live show...
I wonder if the 6 extra tracks are containing the 4 bonus tracks or if we will get possibly 10 other tracks together with the 11 from the album?
LE
I'm so impressed by this box! I just bought my copy of the 300 available!!!

Not sure where these info comes from? It is hard to keep track, especially when you are supposed to work actually.. Hot Dog, amazon.de bonus track, again?
LE
Ok thanks! :thumbsdown
Could not find the amazon.de bonustrack however..
LE
Lights of Taormina LOL
He really liked that place/concert
If I remember well the last Sultans ever was played there
Thanks to Jana's link we get a little more info about the songs:
Broken Bones is about J.J. Cale,
Laughs and Jokes and Drinks and Smokes is about Mark's youth
So to me one of the lines that go through the album could be people oriented songs: Basil, Beryl, J.J. ...
Mark tracking people that were important in his life.
I'm so impressed by this box! I just bought my copy of the 300 available!!!

DO we all get a free copy? Last time it was only for UK fans...
Now I see, 1 extra line in the confirmation, but info has to be made available. So I can get 2 free copies. Other shows friends bought
You should know I ordered tix for UK shows :P
Ah, good thing it's been secured then ;)

I take it that its strictly 300 only and that's it - so if you want it, order it asap....
Please be aware that there is a courier charge which makes the total price
Taormina is about 40 km from my home: when the weather is good I can almost see the "Lights of Taormina"
Well, as soon as I'll receive the CD I'll take a walk in Taormina to listen to this song in the right place :lol
great Rudiger
From where this photo was taken?
Hi guys! Well that's some gooooooooooood news! ;D ;D ;D Just saying, it's great news a new album is on it's way but... Just my thoughts on the 300 limited availability stuff. It's only udiscover which says "ONLY 300 COPIES". No official announcement there will be only 300 boxes... Right? :wave
Until then: just enjoy the news, sound snippets and whatever is released / published and so on! ;D

uDiscover have elaborated about the box saying:
"Strictly limited to 300 and only available at uDiscover.
http://store.universalmusic.com/udiscover/ (http://store.universalmusic.com/udiscover/)
I still have a hard time believing that though.
That would make around 18 Euro which is quite a difference! ;) Hope you ordered the CD and not the mp3-download? ;D
I find it astonishing that Richard Ford wrote the liner notes - I wonder how that connection came to be.
LE
At times, I find it quite unclear to find stuff on the amazon sites lately. For example, I am on the amazon.co.uk site by now and was only able to find the standard and vinyl edition, and all single mp3 tracks.
It changes on a daily base at the moment.

Which often means that this is a slow and soothing "skipper". Seattle was GF:s favourite last time around.
No, it was Kingdom of gold:
"8th September 2012
Q: Congrats on an astonishing album, so many highlights.....too many to mention: Redbud Tree, Privateering, Haul Away, Yon Two Crows, Seattle, Bluebird....but my favourite (tucked away at track 17) is Dream of the Drowned Submariner. So, which one is your favourite?
A: "Well they've all been a favourite at some point. Current leader is Kingdom of gold."
Hi all, first time poster. I ordered the box set last week. I happened to notice that today, Universal has removed all mention of the "strictly limited to 300 copies." I thought I'd mention it in case anyone else ordered it based on its rarity. Feels like an unpleasant scan on Univeral's part.

Hi!
I mailed uDiscover about the 300 copies yesterday, but haven't got any answer. Strange thing indeed now that the notice is gone from their site.
Can you order from Amazon de in holland dutchessy?

Did you notice it said in the cancellation rules that you may cancel your purchase within 14 days - beginning on the day AFTER you receive the product(s)? And you'll have to return the product at your own cost and risk. The delivery charge you paid will not be refunded, if I understood it right. :o That is unfair, now that we know they've lied. >:( They completely fooled me with that "limited edition" stuff, although the high delivery cost made me wonder where on earth this uDiscover store really is - Antarctica?
You just have to send them a message to tell them that you want to cancel your order.
They are very helpful.
I already got my money back.

Today Guy gave an unexpected clear answer to the question about Ian Thomas' early drumming (as shown in the first diary entry). I would have been sure, same as the guy who asked, that this would have been Beryl. Now Guy said it is "River Towns". This song title is resonating in my mind since the first time I read it - it is so much an MK theme, that I am really looking forward to hear it, now with specific drums on it it is even more promising.
Newcastle, London - places where he lived - and I remember his nice warm words 2010, speaking of Hamburg as a "beautiful" city.. another river town..
All songs with a maybe "Geordie" theme in it are always phantastic work from MK.. so "River Towns", a song that needs drumming - looking forward to it!

A reliable source is telling me that 'Terminal of Tribute To' is a great song
This would confirm what Guy said 2 days ago, that is 'his favourite'
Now I'd like to know why this song is basically out of the album and available only as an extra song

Nice pieces of info in the notes.
My expectations have changed after reading them:
It seems the early Straits sound of Beryl is just a singular thing and not representative of the whole album.
And I forgot that someone on this forum had an after-gig chat with Mike McG who said that Tracker sounded not that different to Privateering.

Back to the album for a sec......
My only concern is that we all know that when a single gets released off an album its pretty much seen as the best (if not one of the best) tracks on the album...
Musically yes this was a great tune.....lyrically....it was pants - is this the "best" track on the album? erm - I'm a little worried...... :-\

I think he does country rather well. There's always been a bit of a country influence in his music right back to the early DS days.
Fnac Spain is raffling a travel to London to asist to a 2015 tour rehearsal if you preorder the record with them...
There is an interview with him in the soundz magazine, it is in Dutch but I will try to translate the most interesting parts. Some nice info in it actually, not all standard stuff

Now that's teasing! :D Do you think it is a new one?
LE
So journalists were already able to listen to it. Must be leaking sooner or later?
LE
It sure is a new one! The interviewer talks about going to British Grove, there is some info in the interview about albums he made before, about the studio. Mark tells about that The Who is recording, and Eric Clapton in a while. Then the interviewer asks some questions about the album. He asks MK about laughs and jokes. Mark then tells that Ian Thomas came up with the idea of doing a Dave Brubeck like intro. So it sounds(the intro) like Take Five (which he tells) and says that Dave Brubeck is an hero. So he says they 'put you on the wrong leg' if I translate it literally from dutch to english. He also tells about Skydiver. He tells that the song is about people, normal people or about a fighter pilot who drops bombs, and still has a normal life. 'Dive Bomber in the 2.15' he sings. He tells about a fighter pilot who has to drop his bombs from 2.15 km. River Towns refers to the mississipi.
That are the most interesting parts for Tracker, maybe someone can translate the complete interview? I'm afraid I don't have time for it the forthcoming weeks haha! When I have time I maybe can translate some more parts, but this is it for Tracker. The rest of the info is already here.
Lots of Dutch AMITERs around? ;D Could someone please deliver?

When i did a search with my mobilephone on Amazon.de i saw all the songs of the new album as a mp3 download with a preview button. There was a counter what counted back from 30 secs to 0, but no sound (yet)
Only sound with Beryl.
So... it's coming soon?
I was young and had so much energy. After a studio session with my technician Neil Dorfsman I drove home on my bicycle at four in the morning. Then I already saw the garbage trucks. Manhattan just before sunrise is so beautiful. I could go on forever and there was no brake on it. Those were great times. With Neil I did Brothers in Arms later on.

My pleasure. Always great to help my fellow AMIT-ers, this community delivers so much good things, that it's really no problem:-) Great read indeed!
I've got some info again. I asked a Dutch music journalist on Twitter if he had already heard tracker. He said no, but a journalist who is a friend of him did hear it. And he was very enthusiast about it. I recall that Leo isn't very fond of the slow folky melodies (and his friends neither) so maybe I can conclude that it could be a more uptempo album. And of course, that the promo lines we read in interviews are right. That it sound more like dire straits than his solo work. Again, as LE said, says nothing about the album but it's interesting to hear that critical journalists (which I know for a fact) are enthusiast about it!

If this is really the full film, Mr. Hansen would be a very bad director. The end is pretty rough. This is a cut version for sure.

It is short and the ending pretty abrupt, but this little film is visually stunning, I think. Mr. Hansen has an eye for what looks good.
Who is the guy beside Mark in the Alfa?
Ok, I thought it was the director - but the fact that there is Mr. Cadenet in the clip needs a little bit more expalantion don't you all think? I am not too deep into movie art, and this all looks very nice, but it is not more than a trailer.. and even if it is called "short film", it cannot be this short.
Hopefully.

Yes, ridiculously short. Maybe it's a game about time, as Mark says, time seems to be important for the theme of the album, so, well.. .
Where exactly is this nice beachhouse? Not asking to stalk him, I never cared about the geographics of his private life, but the area in the first part has such tremendous resemblance with the area I live in, (but without these gorgeous trees) that I really wonder.. the flooded area expecially..
and is he really able to do the distance from that place to British Grove on a scooter? ;)
LE
Well, maybe they put the best 3 songs of the album in this short movie... :P
Maybe all the other songs are blues songs :lol
It is this house?
As you may guess we are not telling where it is exactly, as it's private information.
Anybody noticed that this particular shot from the short film could be even more appropriate for cover than official one? :lolI agree with you Foma!! He looks like a real Gentleman Farmer on this picture!! I liked this short film anyway even though I could have watched more!! But we have to be satisfied with what we got!!(https://pp.vk.me/c625416/v625416999/1d309/UiHom6S8Oak.jpg)

Which way to The Clansman, Victor?

I've got to admit your one's better!
I believe Richard Wilson was brought up in Greenock, just 20 miles from Bearsden. I don't believe that!

The most embarrassing thing is, that they need to mention the tax avoidance thing in the article below the interview.
I don't care about it. But is it really necessary to mention it in this context?
Strange timing, two weeks before release, stating that "a new album has been released". This is one of the interviews that I hope no one of my friends has seen - with a tired, weary MK, (he could have been shaved), always saying the same stuff for decades now..
LE
He did look very tired, but maybe he had a long day.
He did look very tired, but maybe he had a long day. btw I like his unshaven look now and then!
I don't have a problem with the interview - he answers what the interviewer asks and is always polite, no matter how many times he has to answer the same old questions! ;)
What should he talk about? What questions should he be asked that we don't already know? Imagine you are the interviewer! :think
http://www.amarkintime.org/forum/index.php/topic,3727.0.html
I just think, that it's kind of unfair to bring it up in this context.
I mean, he gives them an interview and they have nothing better to do than to mention this.
They could have also mentioned that he donates money to charities, which they didn't do.
It would be better that these journalists find something good to write about MK, than digging around for something they see as shady!
QuoteIt would be better that these journalists find something good to write about MK, than digging around for something they see as shady!
Errm, no. Quite the opposite. It's a good journalist's job to write about the shady side of things. What you are referring to is PR/marketing, not journalism.
By the way, The Guardian, who first published these news, is Mark Knopfler's favourite newspaper. And for a reason.

They delight in digging up the dirt! Good journalism should be well-balanced - most often it's not!
I've lost all my trust in newspapers and in journalist in general. Reading a newspaper ist most of the time an annoyance, even the "quality" papers are getting poorer and poorer. They are mainly looking for scandals, and if they can't find them they try to produce them. Everything is exagerated, and the ideal to INFORM people is completely lost.

About the release date, it is supposed to be on 16th but it looks that some countries applies their own rules depending in which day the releases are made before all the EU adopt Friday as the release date, for instance, right now Tuesday is the release date in Spain so it means we will get the record on 17th...
I think I read that some other countries (Holland?) will have it released on 13rd, is that right? Which are the release dates by country? Please add yours if the date is different

Nope, actually we had it 5 (five!) weeks before release. This time all the websites decided not to do snippets for some reason.

Of the 11 (classic) album tracks we already have 4: two complete and two snippets form the short film, so we do know quite a substantial part of it already.
This time it is more concealed, and I somehow like it like that :)
Anyone found any early reviews yet?
What a smug bunch of adjectives in this review..

Not too enthusiatic about what that German review said about some songs. Sax on River Towns - hmmmm not too sure - and I have high expectations for
Laughs & Jokes and Drinks & Smokes, but a fiddle that makes it sound like a traditional folk song.. hmmm... ::) Mighty Man with accordeon and flute... :think hmmm..
the story about the clock is sweet though.

I feel anger.
It's time to ditch those tin whistles and citterns. He's been doing that Celtic thing since Local Hero and Cal, for goodness sakes. It is getting old. Like that Riverdance fad in the 90s.
Edit: Ok, anger is too much said. But it does NOT look promising. And that oilskin jacket and sixpence image in the video - it's like a Range Rover commercial for the VIP section at Wimbledon. Bleh.
That nice (and young) lady at the Media Markt in my hometown was asked today by Mr. Love Expresso that a new Mark Knopfler album was about to be released next week - "March 13th, she answered in no time, which made me happy and I wondered, should she really know that artist?
I asked "maybe you have it the day before?" and she answered "yes, pretty sure!"
So if I am lucky, I will have the CD next Thursday, which is almost only one week away! I will let you know if I have it! ;D
LE
Border Reiver was fast, albeit with whistles and citterns.
Cleaning My Gun was a pretty good rocker.
The man can still do it. If he wants.
"Slow is exactly what I was expecting, slow is what we are getting since RPD was released on 2002 and nothing has changed except that MK is older."
Exactly. You cannot put it better than that!
To expect anything else is simply not realistic for more than 10 years now. The same holds for the setlist illusions that will soon start again. Besides that he still is the very best there is!
Edit: Sorry, wrong thread, won't happen again.

Two out of eleven isn't bad. I feel better already ;D
Funny thing is that there ARE obviously two
rockers on the album? Seems to be faded out here in terms of pre release criticism?
This Italian review let my expectations rise a lot.
LE
Two out of eleven isn't bad. I feel better already ;D
Statistically, yes, that's what it looks like it's going to be. As someone said (here?), it's like the same songs over and over, but with different lyrics. Someone should remind Mark about the anecdote he told where he heard Buddy Holly playing on the radio after Telegraph Road and how he felt TR was so lifeless (over-produced) in comparison with the simple, lively Buddy Holly tune.
Two out of eleven isn't bad. I feel better already ;D
KTGC vol 2, now with 18% more rock! ;D
It's not about slowness per se, but variation.
But you're right - lets hear the dang record. And then moan ;D

I like them, but in my opinion he should have released two albums, one with "regular" songs, and one blues album. I feel the many blues songs don't fit the other songs so well.

Interesting! From the very first listen I have the feeling that this sounds pretty exoctic, almost Eastern, might have to to that I think this slide guitar part sounds a little bit sitar-like.. love it! And the very first words Mark sings sound awesome. Indeed when the guitar rhythm part sets in (during Mark talking),
it has a little resemblance with The Fish And The Bird"... looking forward to enjoy this track completely, hopefully on Thursday!

No, hoping for Thursday. MediaMarkt in my town said it is pretty possible that the get it one day before. Plus amazon.de changed the date for the mp3-version from March 9th (which would be tomorrow!!!!) to March 12th. I am pretty sure I couldn't resist if the dowload version would be available earlier.

Come on, 99.99% of people would not notice any diffirence between mp3 version and CD. At least mp3 from online stores. I'm not in that 0.01% part of the world, so as soon I'd get a leak, I will listen to it, although my iTunes pre-order waits me on 16-th March and deluxe CD will arrive a month later.

It's just the whole experience.. The smell of the booklet, putting the cd into the player, sit down with a cuppa coffee, and then just listen in great quality (because you do hear the difference, cd is much warmer than an MP3) if I speak for myself I rather have cd quality. If you listen close on a good system you can hear. Yeah LE, I agree with you. The struggle, I hope it continues long!
I know it's a very, very tough discussion on mp3, but I remember the day I listened 'Get Lucky' for the first time. It was early august summer night (because the album leaked almost a month prior to its release), I was on holiday in the country, so what I did, I climbed on the roof that night, with my trusty mp3 player and good headphones and listened whole album under clear night sky and stars. And I actually cried on 'Piper to the End'.
Now that was an experience I should say. I could listen it on a vinyl, but it's hard to get vinyl so early, and bring it on the roof lol!
And now, every time I hear 'Hard Shoulder' or anything from Get Lucky I remember me sitting on the roof that night and listening.
Tonight at 00:01 , can we buy the album in mp3?
:hmm :hmm :hmm :hmm :hmm :hmm :o

vgonis, there were different release days from the beginnng: Germany had as official release day Friday 13th :o. The markets got their delievery already on Thursday: When I asked politely the lady was so nice to open one of those many boxes and pick the right one without looking (she knew her stuff). 30 or more nice Tracker CDs were in that box and she had no reservations to take one out, shortly book it into the computer system and let me go off to the counter with it. Will bring her a little candy for that this evening. ;D
So on Thursday, I had mine. Whereas UK release day seems to be 16th.

Looks right. There's a lay-by for the car to pull in and get out to take the photo. Also, the telegraph pole is in the correct position at the far side of the field.
Do you think Mark just walked out there or was he photoshopped in later?
Someone of Spanish City has posted this google maps location, and thinks it's the same place where the Tracker cover picture was taken...
What do you think?
It looks quite similar... and it's in the south, not far from where John Illsley has the pub in the New Forest...

Amazing that somebody actually tried to find this! It's not Abbey Road type of thing for sure though.
Looks similar, but the original photo (before the cover was photoshopped) there's tree shadows on it, so it was probably taken down the road.
St Leonard's Cottages goes across the end of the lane that MK lives in. :)
