This little crispy part of news seems to get lost in all the touring and Tracker enthusiasm..
So who could it be? Any ideas, wishes, dreams, guesses?
Could it be David Gilmour or the "new" Pink Floyd album?
Could be a new dimension of fame and reputation for our favourite Doctor....

Guy is mixing MK album isn't it?

ds, Guy gave some hints and explained that he is very busy not only because he is mixing MK's album, but also another album of "someone else very well known". You can find it if you read the Guy's forum posts of the last week. It is no wonder that you missed it at very much is happening and going on at the moment. That was what I meant. Someone asked Guy if he means his own next solo album and he just today he answered, "No, that's not my own record. Someone else very well known."
Now the question is, who is mixing his album at BG and is "very well known?" Robbie Williams? :wave

Thanks - understood :smack ;D

We'll, mixing it's not like producing or recording, he maybe won't get to know the artist at all, but if a well known artist asks you (or his producer etc) to mix his record, it has to be an honour!

... so I had the weirdest dream last night. :think
I was going though some cabinets in my house when a song came on the radio that I "recognized". It was Follow the Ribbon... sung by Rod Stewart. Odd, eh???
So, I am going with Rod Stewart. hahahaha :smack :D ;)

Probably the new Iron Maiden album. ;D
And Rod Stewart is not a bad bet. He will probably issue the great British songbook.

U2's next album - "Songs of Ignorance". Guy seems to be a huge fan of theirs. :)

I dunno, Guy said he's mixing an album, and this is just one new song. The rest of a greatest hits album probably wouldn't need re-mixing.

Simon Cowell and this year's winner of the X Factor - that's my guess!! ;D

no it seems not :
Alan on 6th october :
My bet of the day: 1) first album being mixed: Tracker. 2)second album being mixed(the well known artist's one ): GF III. 3)Tracker artwork by : GF with his Canon camera
Guy's answer :
No, the seconds album is not mine, it's for someone else, very well known. I cannot talk about it yet.

Thanks JF! We will keep on trying!

Besides the new Pink Floyd album David Gilmour has also worked on his new solo album. It does not say if it's already finished. Coult it be :think :think :think

I just listened a new album by Stevie Nicks with a song with Mark's music on it. Seems like it's just an
-
Regarding the new Stevie Nicks song "She Loves Him Still", I found a Stevie Nicks fan site where someone stated that years ago she heard the "Local Hero" soundtrack, loved one of MK's instrumentals, and wrote the lyrics set to MK's song. She then contacted MK to see if he was interested in doing the song as a duet. He responded with a cease and desist letter.
I read it on the internet so it must be true ;D
At any rate, he must have finally agreed to let her do the song and it is now credited as Stevie Nicks - lyrics and MK - music.
-
If I remember correctly, MK had met with Nicks several times to record together, duo to them having Iovinne as a common producer. This demo is legendary, and it finally surfaced!
-
Vgonis, I think you confuse this song with one that is supposed that Mk andStevie nicks recorded together back in the 80's, this is very different.
-
Yes, I realized that probably this is a different thing, as soon as I hit send, and I was wondering if someone will notice. Surely in this one MK is not playing, but do we know if this isn't the tune that they were actually working on? There are several demos from the past in the CD, so maybe Nicks came across that demo as well, but due to contractual issues she could not use it and had to re-record it.
-
Actually Mimmo Carrata was under the same impression and asked the the official SN site http://stevienickswelshwitch.tumblr.com/
and got a reply, unfortunately the youtube link provided does not work. Here it is:
Dear Shel, my name is Mimmo Carrata and I am a Mark Knopfler collector. I have just read that the song SHE LOVES HIM STILL, composed by Mark, will be officially released Tomorrow on the new 24 KT GOLD album. According to the album credits on the Stevie's site, Mark is not among the musicians so it seems that he doesn't play on the song. I'll buy the CD Tomorrow for my collection. I read on your site that there are 3 different demos of the song: do you know if Mark does play on the demos ? MImmo
Hi Mimmo, I am honestly not sure if he played on the demos or not, but you can hear one of them here: http://youtu.be/4Ckpiy6ylb
Hope that helps!

Someone also very well known he said in a reply on his forum a few weeks ago so Serhan is the one if he tweeted that he was just finished mastering his new album. Leaves me with the question. Who the f... is Serhan Yasdiman. :hmm
Perhaps someone can help me out here...... :wave

Well, I guess if you do not see it as some sort of cynism, Guy got us and was kidding us. Don't know exactly if it is very respectful to the artist.. but maybe that is some sort of british humour that I don't understand..

Very well known to him, maybe. Or in Turkey (is it)? :hmm

Guy was mixing the new record of a well known artist, but what he says in his tweet is "mastering" which is very different from mixing.
Example: Guy mixes the Mk album, but Bob Ludwig masterizes it...

Mastering and Mixing its not like recording or producing, Bob Ludwig masterizes many many many records per year, whatever Guy mixed its not his first mixing work, he already made some, and that last mixing of a famous artist was did at the same time than the MK mixing, so I dont see why not...
-
jbeant is right.
He mastered the Serhan record, the mixing for a very well known person is someone else.
Hello Doc. After read that you were mixing the album of a well known artist, we read in your twitter you just finished a work with Serhan Yasdiman. I admitt my big ignorance in music but I guess, with all the respect, he

Reminds me of the good old joke where an airplane falls in the jungle and the only survivors are an English, an American and a Japanese. After the initial shock the gather up and decide that each one of them has to provide certain things for everyone. The English will provide wood for a hut and for heating, the American will provide water and the Japanese the rest everyday supplies, necessary to live. They split up to gather the things and after 5 hours they return. But the Japanese is nowhere to be found. Worried that he might be lost or eaten by savage animals, they start searching. And after a couple of hours while passing in front of some bushes, the Japanese pops up and shouts:"Supplies, supplies!" (No offense to the amiable Japanese friends)
Anyway, despite the fact that I could never enjoy an EC album from 1980 onwards, he is a living legend and one of my first guitarists that I could identify with, with his Cream, D&D, Blind Faith and solo (70ies) releases.

Mr. Gilmour is going to release a new solo album soon (that's besides Pink Floyd's album - The Endless River).
Maybe he's the man, although he's got his own studio...

Bill Wyman is quite very famous, you could say...
WE have a winner :clap , indeed it is bill wyman :
Musicians joining Bill in the studio include long time collaborator/guitarist Terry Taylor, Guy Fletcher (Mark Knopfler), Graham Broad and Robbie McIntosh, while co-production credit goes to Andy Wright (Jeff Beck, Eurythmics, Simply Red).
http://billwyman.com/2015/04/bill-wyman-releases-first-solo-album-in-33-years-back-to-basics/

Dominique Paysant:
You 're credited on the Bill Wyman forthcoming solo album?! Great news!
GUY:
Yes, that was the project I couldn't mention a while ago

Bravo! I wished Mark could play on that one too.
