2001 video - Mark Knopfler playing Hard Rock - the National Duolian steel guitar formerly owned by blues legend Booker White (aka Bukka White) which was later immortalised in the Eric Bibb song, "Booker's Guitar".

Wow, photos like this is that I would call 'Time connection'. Look at this, this metal thing remains exactly the same, but Mark's hair got white!

It's Wag The Dog, but he played just one 'twiddly bit' from Drooling National.

any idea as to how mark got his hands on that guitar back in 1980? was it already in Keith's possession back then?

Hi,

Thanks for the warm welcome. Yes, Mark got to play the guitar through Keith on both occasions. I reckon the black and white image dates from around 1979-80 but I'm not sure of an exact date.

The video is from December, 2001 when Mark was opening a new music facility at Newcastle College.
