Superb :thumbsup

Wow, can't wait actually!

Isn't his website says you'll get 4 bonus tracks if you pre-order the album, rather than it will be released on 10 March?

I understand that if you preorder the album you will get that 4 tracks on 10 march as an advance, and that 4 tracks are not bonus, they are in the record.

There already has been a song "irish Heartbeat" (Title track) on Van Morrison's album "Iris Heatbeat" in 1988 together with The Chieftains.

Is that song. This new record is a collection of his old songs but in duets format.

The Chieftains replaced by McGoldrick/McCusker ? :smack

Exactly my thoughts! Could Van be this mysterious famous guy from Guy's forum he talked about?
-
Great song ( the entire Irish Heartbeat album with the Chieftains is one of mine favs. )
Can't wait for this release , will Mark do any vocals ( i guess with a duet it will) and how does his guitar playing fits in this version of the song?
Still the best LIVE cover of this song IMO is done by the man who introduced Dire Straits @ the Nelson Mandela gig in 1988 ".....with a tear in either eyes,,,, " by yes indeed Billy Connolly , wait until the Uilleann pipes marches in , this version will be hard to beat :think

Hmm that is possible, perhaps we can ask him :think :think :think

co-producers Don Was and Bob Rock are great mixing engineers themselves.
Although the album was recorded in his home town of Belfast and London in the United Kingdom over the last year, using a variety of musicians and fresh arrangements. .......Maybe the London part was done by Guy?
-
Cool - probably my two favourite artists

Guy made a quite hard comment about the mix of the song in which MK sings with Van Morrison, the second time I read that kind of comments about other colleagues work, first time was with the last Bap Kennedy record.

Yes you are right about that. Had forgotten that and it's not nice in both cases. It seems only BG is able to deliver superior stuff when it comes to mix and sound...

Wow. Quality is pretty shitty, but thanks! I barely recognized Mark in this one. But I definitely want it in proper quality.
Even in this version I can't actually understand Guy's attitude about mixing. Seems like very good job on this side.
-
Thanks for posting!
-
Seems to be in a very high key for MK.
But I like it, even if it's slow ;)
-
Much better quality ;)

Thank you! So much better. But Mark is still is unrecognizable. I think this is in truth just a too high key for him. Somewhere towards the end of the song Mark sings second voice in his ultrasound register actually.
-
Don't know if I like this tune or not. Lot of stuff going on with banjo, horns, various vocals, electric lead guitar, Mark struggling in the key. Seems a bit unfocused the whole thing.
-
Not bad at all. Nothing special but it does have some sort of pace about it and as such isn't sleep inducing.
-
Great tune! Like it! :D

Agreed, it rises throughout the song and the ending is quite powerful. But again, a totally wrong key for MK.
-
I like it! :thumbsup

As Mark said in his recent interview, the singer is always right. In this case the singer is clearly Van :lol
-
Great song, I like it :clap :clap :clap
-
The song is now on the official Van Morrisson YT channel:

Great tune!
A very good guitar work and Mark's voice is not that bad, considering he's singing along one of the world top singers!
-
To me, the singing is a bonus! The guitar work is superb!

After thinking that Guy was too much politicaly correct when he has one ounce of balls it turns in "he not nice to write this" :hmm
I like when Guy express opinion even if I disagree with them, this is far more interesting than the usual stuff.
-
Really like it. Yes, it's at the top of MK's range but his whole vocal schtick is singing like he's fighting for control and I think the timbres of their voices work beautifully together.
As for Guy's comments on the mix - I can only assume he's never listened to any classic Van Morrison. It's mixed *exactly* like a 70s Van Morrison, presumably deliberately. I'll make him the allowance that he's too young to know better - except he's older than me!
-
I simply love their two voices and this song has also a fantastic melody!!!
