Hot dog (Mark Knopfler)

LYRICS

Hot Dog

I'm coming off your cooking
I'm coming off my food
I'm staring down this hot dog
And I'm in a fighting mood
Hot dog, it's either your or me
I guess the hot dog blues
Got a hold on me

Well I drink my coffee leaded
'Til I'm good to go
They tell me it ain't good for me
Maybe so
Hot dog, it's either you or me
I guess the hot dog blues
Got a hold on me

Well you're gonna give me trouble
I'm gonna stick around
Ain't no hot dog
Gonna run me out of town
Hot Dog, it's either you or me
I guess the hot dog blues
Got a hold on me

Who would have thought that a hot dog would count as Heavy Fuel?

Here are the Hot Dog lyrics, freshly from the booklet where there are in, which I think is pretty fine. Please editors put them in the first post of this thread:

Hot Dog

I'm coming off your cooking
I'm coming off my food
I'm staring down this hot dog
And I'm in a fighting mood
Hot dog, it's either your or me
I guess the hot dog blues
Got a hold on me

Well I drink my coffee leaded
'Til I'm good to go
They tell me it ain't good for me
Maybe so
Hot dog, it's either you or me
I guess the hot dog blues
Got a hold on me

Well you're gonna give me trouble
I'm gonna stick around
Ain't no hot dog
Gonna run me out of town
Hot Dog, it's either you or me
I guess the hot dog blues
Got a hold on me

Nice one, perhaps spoiled a little by being cut short.

It must say it has the perfect lenghts. It is a nice little rocker, and I watched to the display when it was over, and was astonished, so short!

The sound of the guitar !!!! My god, I wish he'd just release a blues album with this sound alone. Incredible sound.

Wonderful guitar sound, :thumbsup a nice song, not a fabulous song, but come on, it's much better than 90% of what we have on that album (I'll stay  polite).  :thumbsdown

It is only in the boxset in Germany

no, it's in the german 1cd and 2cds versions and only in selected stores like Saturn

There is no 2CD version existing - we have the normal 11-track-CD, and the Limited Deluxe Edition which is physically also ONE CD but with more tracks: with 15 tracks (11+4).

Hot Dog is a Saturn and Media Markt bonus song: Means these Limited Deluxe Editions you can (only) buy in the large German chain stores or Saturn or Media Markt: In these stores, you can get the Limited Deluxe Edition with 16 tracks, 11 + 4 + 1, where the 1 is Hot Dog.

I repeat that this Limited Deluxe Edition is ONE physical CD with nearly 80 minutes running time.

Then of course there is the big expensive Deluxe Box which contains the usual standard 11 CD version and a second CD with 6 bonus tracks (4+2 new), without Hot Dog, because this one, you remember, is for Media Markt and Saturn only.

So there are 18 songs which do not fit on one CD, but Hot Dog does fit together with the Special Edition (and song is mentioned on the back of the cover and lyrics are inside the booklet).

Lots of figures but I hope it is clearer now? So many new songs that it is practially like having another doulbe album...  :wave

Kind of strange that the lyrics of the Bonus songs (4+2) are NOT included in the Deluxe Box set.  ???

Yes hope so, but Pyroman a longer and more powerfull. Since its only on german released material its probably not played. Or rarely played.

Same here.
How I hate this bonus song crap ... you buy the most expensive box set edition but still do not have all songs.  :think
I would pay for the song If you can buy it online somwhere but it is not available.  :disbelief
And buying the complete CD again at Saturn or Maediamarkt to get this song ??? !!!

At least it is up on youtube, a nice song with great guitar work I think. :)

To be honest I do not begrudge buying the Box set at all, in fact I am glad I have for years to come if you know what I mean?
As for the bonus tracks, personally this one has to be the only 'poor' effort out of the whole 18 'new' tracks...

This song has more lead guitar than the rest of the album in total.

This is a great little track and riff, lyrics are pointless. The riff is better than the nonsense we got before like Dont forget your hat.

Only listened to this now, and didn't have any expectations. Love it, though, fantastic guitar sound and cool singing – it's very ZZ Top, and while Mark alway had that side, he didn't show it often lately. I won't complain. Oh wait, I WILL complain about those completely useless, silly sounds Guy put in the background. Seriously, WHO needs that?!
