Hi all :)
I figure it was about time I started this thread, since I´ve got some recordings nobody has in their collection :lol
And now I want to share them with you. I also hope that this thread will make other uncirculated recordings appear too. They are out there.

5. Romeo And Juliet
6. Sultans Of Swing

Please also state when you (we) upload or poste a recording if it is a SB or AUD recording. Thanks. Maybe all SB recordings are out in the open but you never know :-)

Do we already have a list of all available recordings, shared / non-shared, with names of the recorder/origin?
Would be a nice project to keep track, also to judge recordings of the same date, to know what's the best.
-
I generally use oneverybootleg.nl as a database for a view or comment on live recordings. It is pretty much comprehensive, however there do seem to be a lot of alternative sources or recordings of audience based recordings cropping up on trackers these days.
As for a list of what isn't shared, well I will guess we will never know until each recording becomes available. I'm sure that in the vaults there must be a number of soundboard live recordings, like the whole of Paris 83 from the MFN comp, and the master reel of the Mandela show along side a lot of obscurities. Who knows; indeed we may never know.
-
lyon 1996, is that one circulating?

An uncirculated night from Tokyo 83 has just turned up on the tracker
-
A guy on Dime told me he traded with a video-taper back in the 90´s who recorded DS in Christchurch 1991, but he sold his entire collection after that. Including his master tapes. So - they are out there.. Hopefully..
It seems like DS Halifax 1992 might appear complete on youtube soon as well :)
Look at the comments:

Thanks for the info. :thumbsup
Listening now - not his best night on the tour! :o
Interesting re the Christchurch show too. There aren't many recordings from the Australasian leg of the OES tour - 1 incomplete in fact!

An unsiculated recording of Dire Straits live in Seattle 1992.04.04 was just posted on Dime!! 😊💪
And the recording sounds VERY good! Awesome intro on The Bug, and a very well played Fade To Black. Strange to see Planet Of New Orleans played late in the show. And they played Tunnel Of Love as well :)
Probably one of the best recordings I´ve heard from this tour!
-
Also, 2001.06.06 Paris, is alive in Dime. Another uncirculated

Sound quality is pretty good but Mark is not performing well at all. Little mistakes on most songs, especially PONO where he makes a few very notable ones and doesn't go for it in the solo, cutting it short. I got the impression all the way through the concert that something was bothering him that night. Managed to nail TOL though.

Don't they mean 26.06.01?

Yes, it´s an error in DIME. Sorry I didn´t checked.

Here's one that just hit my recommendations on YouTube, didn't find any mention of it anywhere:
https://youtu.be/m5DpYTarOdQ
It claims to be recorded live at the TSB Bowl of Brooklands, New Plymouth. 19 march 2005.

Wow! He was on fire that night! Great to see a SL gig with Chad and the MFN 'intro' :)

I've got a couple of tracks from that night that were released the day after the gig! SAN and WII.

Here's another one that popped up:

On Every Bootleg has this concert but reports that the end of TR is missing, this recording has that. I don't have any copy of this so I can't compare if it's indeed the same show.
-
Yess, It is from Ferrara (compared shouts at the begining of TR), and have TR complete. A litlle less quality than the known bootleg, but perfectly listeneable. Will try to get the flac files from the uploader.

can someone rip the audio and upload on spanish city for these last two novelties?

There is also the Bootleg Dire Straits 1981 06 30 Bologna, Antistadio, Complete Audio Show from My Master, and really, with a superior quality than we know, check it out!
-
There are 2 versions of this one, and the one in Youtube is one of them. I don´t see an special increase in quality, maybe this is the original tape and the one we have is a second or third gen. But, unless the publisher havs the willing to share in Flac format, the only we can get is an loosy conversion from youtube.

Got this concert directly from the original recorder in flac. Will trim the songs and make it available.

Same show and same recording that I have, but in slightly better sound quality. Would need to check if TR is cut. From what I recall the audience "who-hoo's" are at the same places and you can hear the same music leak from another source at the piano break at TR, so already circulated but now we have the master source.
Very nice TOL on this show. Better than Alchemy.

I started to listen to it this morning in the car. Very good sound. I know that all recordings from this tour are knowned as audience, but this one sounds soundboard to me (like Paris 23.06)
it's the firts time I heard Hal's guitar so clearly on Once upon a time. never heard his staccato during Mark's solo before.
And I never noticed how Mark's voice sounded like Springsteen's one on Expresso love intro...
I'm looking forward to listen to TOL...

As much as I know, there are no recordings of those dates.

Does anyone have Rio 2001 or Christchurch 2005 by any chance? :lol

I missed portobello Belle ! strange that Jeroen says that the concert is complete....

If you look closely, of the 5 concerts in Italy during the LOG tour, the only one they played Portobello Belle was the first in Novara, the other 4 (Ferrara, Prato, Rome and Naples) mysteriously they just did not play Portobello Belle.
-
ah ok thanks for the info. very strange indeed. I always thought that the 82-83 stelist was static except for it never rains.
are we really sure that it wasn't played or that it doesn't features on recordings ? (maybe due to tape length) ?
another thing about Ferrara : Going home has a strange sound mix with some radio or whatever...
-

This is the sound of a near Disco, wall to wall with the venue.

This has always been a puzzle. A search revealed that the venue was Stadio Comunale, that of the local football club and hence an open-air concert. It is also located right in the city centre, although surrounded primarily by residential buildings. On Google Street View the stands are open-ended and this may help to explain things a little.

The person that uploaded these to Dime said the tapes was bought on eBay. The seller couldnt find the second tapes for each show. So I’m afraid this is all we’ll get. But I think what we have got here is great 👍
But this is a reminder to keep searching on eBay and other places for things like this!

This is going to be interesting! The original taper for the Toronto show commented on Dime and said he and his friend recorded both nights and the show in Hamilton (the date before the Toronto shows). Hope they show up!

01.04.1992 P.N.E. Vancouver Canada

Well, they filmed it as you can see so at least there was a recording of it. I pray we will se it one day..!

Hello my dear friend. Sorry for my bad english..
I dont know much about that exchange pages, personally i think that it doesn't is a soundboard recording, because it´s not specified as "soundboard"
-
this is from the original taper, forgot his name, he already posted his own master on dime ages ago, good quality (the original transfer) but i am pretty sure it is no soundboard but purely an AUD rec.
he taped shitloads of shows in (mostly) Italy during the 80ies and 90ies.

1. Intro > Once Upon a Time in the West
2. Expresso Love >
3. Down to the Waterline >
4. Lions
5. Skateaway
6. Romeo & Juliet pt. 1 (1 glitch between the 2 parts transition)
7. Romeo & Juliet pt. 2
8. News >
9. Sultans of Swing (1 glitch)
Disc Two :
1. Portobello Belle >
2. Angel of Mercy > Band Intro >
3. Tunnel of Love pt. 1 (1 glitch between the 2 parts transition)

Pretty good audience recording from master....This is the last of the 1981 italian tour.
I cannot upload the Carrara show, cause my master cassette is completely broken, i tried,
bit it is impossible to fix it.
Master cassette > behringer ultra curve pro deq 2496 audio equalizer > tascam audio cdrw750 > plex tool professional XL > wav > flac.
Recorded, transfered, remastered & uploaded by 38f on Dime 2006.

Yes, there are quite a lot of recordings hidden in people's drawers by who knows the reason...
In 1996, in Barcelona concert, I had by my side two french brothers, a man and a woman, and she told me that she attended all french and Spanish shows and recorded all of them with a very good equipment. I never saw in circulation any of her recordings...
-
Well I got something coming your way soon :)

Hope the 96 recordings you mentioned shows up 😊👍

If any french from here knows them... One of them told me they had family in Gandia, Valencia, in Spain.

Wow, excellent news!! Please let us know when you will share this one.
I'm always searching for uncirculated shows.
Many thanks Tobben!
Let's hope the MK 1996 french-spanish shows will coming up a day, I like 1996 shows!

Hello, I wanted to share a new one from March 79.
I think it is the first unnoficial video recording of a Dire Straits concert. Is from the Bayou venue, in Georgetown. It was made in b/w, but with the audio direct from the soundboard.
Was found thanks to a documentary of that venue, made with all the recordings the owner made of the different shows that happened there. The original tapes were donated to the library of the RRHOF. They delivered a copy, but with a big watermark.
You can get the video and the audio in Laknopflertk´s tracker. But not in Dime, because the audio is loosy.
Enjoy
-
Well, I did contacted the RRHOF and got an email back from a Audiovisual Archivist who was very interested in the video and asked me for more information.
I send her a link to the documentary and asked her if they are planning to release this concert.
Will keep you updated.

Well, I did contacted the RRHOF and got an email back from a Audiovisual Archivist who was very interested in the video and asked me for more information.
I send her a link to the documentary and asked her if they are planning to release this concert.
Will keep you updated.
Enjoy
Sorry, don´t understand what you are saying. I talked to the archivist, and finally got a copy (wich I paid), but watermarked. There wasn´t possible without this watermark, and I tried hard. The audio, also, had to be compressed.
What are you meaning is that they are thinking to do a commercial release?
What information did she asked for?

I was wondering if they are planning a release from that video. Got his answer back: Unfortunately without you obtaining and providing proof of copyright permission, we’re unable to offer anything other than a low resolution watermarked copy like what he you already have.
So maybe David Knopfler can?
