I think it's Tunnel of Love but I'm not sure... There are so many songs from Mark that could fit this description.Xx

Mark's albums in 2000s?
One epic — Get Lucky
One depressing — Kill To Get Crimson
One funny — Shangri-La
One melancholic — The Ragpicker's Dream
One progressive — Sailing To Philadelphia
A veeeeeery long shot, but still :lol Don't ask me why KTGC is depressing, because I have no idea, it probably isn't.

Nope and nope... ;D

It's a challenge, who doesn't love challenges? Let's get into it... Just throw first things that get in your head, like...
The chords for Sultans Of Swing
One epic — F
One depressing — Dm
One funny — C
One melancholic — A
One progressive — Bb

I'm guessing it's the Love Over Gold album.
Telegraph Road - epic
Private Investigations - progressive
Industrial Disease - funny
Love Over Gold - melancholic
It Never Rains - depressing
-
Correct answer! Well done!

I gave this masterpiece a listen last night which turned out to become two listens in a row.. it is so brillant... and during that I thought about the structure of the album and that it has none.. Just five brillant Masterpieces, all different, put together. .
The cover Photo fits perfectly well!

Funny thing is I just realized you changed the order... to me the songs appear exactly as I wrote it, (Private Investigations not progressive like it's your take MK-47, but depressing). Interesting enough!

Best record he ever made!

What about Timothy Dalton? ;)
Sir Roger Moore was my favorite Bond as well- read several of his books and have watched his films and series a lot. It's sort of weird that I didn't know him personally, yet it does have quite an impact on me. RIP.

Blimey, I knew I got something wrong.. :smack :lol

Easy when you know the answer! I got sidetracked into thinking years and more long term, rather like Foma.
Yes it's a great album, along with the debut the only two without a filler. Difficult to have a filler when there are only 5 tracks!
-
LOG has good songs, but I not very like sound from production. Very 80 style, cold sound, big reverb, big drums. My favorit is It never rains.

It was an interesting question, quite entertaining. The moment I saw "one epic" I knew it had to be Telegraph Road ;D , and I just went from there.
I think that It Never Rains just seems more sad and defeated than PI. Although the music in PI is a bit darker than in INR, I still think the latter one is more serious in the subject.
That whole album is a work of art. I think this was the best period in Dire Straits existence, this album and the tour ( I love Alchemy :) ).
Nice little puzzle, if you have more...

I agree with MK-47's take on LOG; with a slight change:
Telegraph Road - epic
Private Investigations - progressive
Industrial Disease - funny
Love Over Gold - melancholic
It Never Rains - depressing and incredibly angry >:(
