Nice song. Good atmosphere and vocal from Mark. The trumpet lends a touch of class. I can't see myself listening to this often but it's very nice nonetheless......yes what I would say, is a great jazz song, well done, but like you say 'I can't see myself listening often this one'
I can say that I will put this record just to listen to this jewel alone!
This song is a gem. I can't stop listening to it!
A very very boring song. I don't buy an album of Mark for listening this. :smack
Number one.
If there is a ban, please amit for removal.
It's easy. If I do not know which song I like more than Drover's Road or Nobody's Child or When you Leave or One Song In A Time or .... For me, each is number one. That's all.
I think this might just be the masterpiece on the album. I can imagine someone like Diana Krall singing this with an arrangement quite similar to the one on the record. I can see why it’s not to the taste of non-jazz lovers here, but I think this is quite special. In terms of doing it live, no probably not in the huge arenas MK has reverted to, but it would have worked very well at Ronnie Scott’s back in the Hillbilly days.
I think this might just be the masterpiece on the album.I think so too, it's a great song and one of my favorite.
What's that strange sound like a pop at around 3:15?
By the way, I love this song too :)
Both this and Slow Learner are really pretty jazzy crooner type songs, but I'm not sure Mark's voice suits them well. I'd love to hear Diana Krall do a version of them.
I do think When You Leave is a vastly better song than Slow Learner.
Love this song...such a beautiful melody!Yes, it's one of his greatest songs!
I find it tastes like "Manha de carnaval" from the Black Orpheus opera...
Great ballad but the lyrics hint of a dark back story like Hill Farmer Blues. Does anyone else feel that?Completely agree; the setup in the beginning is especially trenchant: "When you leave...There’s cordite in the air". Once again, MK creates an incredibly visual atmosphere for his song.
