LYRICS

The barflies chatter
They don’t know any better
It doesn’t matter
You’re hanging on to a dream
To your own dream
They’re laughing and talking
One or two are clapping
But nobody’s walking
And you’re hanging on to a dream
To your own dream
Let them do what they do
Say what they say
It doesn’t matter anyway
Every heart in the room
Will belong to you one day
Let them do what they do
Say what they say
It doesn’t matter anyway
Every heart in the room
Will belong to you one day
A beer glass shatters
The bar staff clatters
It doesn’t matter
You’re hanging on to a dream
To your sweet dream
You don’t hurry, don’t worry
They’re going to know your story
It doesn’t matter
You’re hanging on to a dream
To your sweet dream
Let them do what they do
Say what they say
It doesn’t matter anyway
Every heart in the room
Will belong to you one day

This must be one of the most beautiful things MK has done in general! Such a classic melody, these vocals and harmonies. Fell in love immediately!

I'm liking it too.

Can anyone help on the solo (guitar etc.)?

love it !

@dmg : for slide he usually plays the 64 strat these days, but here the tone is warmer, rounder, so it could also be the Danelectro like on Donnegan's gone, but not sure

Agree. That melody, that 60s arrangements, that slide melting your heart (no pun intended). This is Kill To Get Krimson pushed to the limit, pushed to another level. This is gonna be not only one of my fav MK songs, but one of my favs songs for life.

Strange he uses the strat for slide these days. The danelectro suits better for that sounds, he even have a danelectro signature called the jizzblaster...

Funny you say that. I haven't heard this album yet, but I prefer the Strat with slide, at least the way it sounded on Tracker. The Danelectro sounds harsh to me, while the Strat has a mellower, smoother tone. Or maybe it's just the way they were recorded...

I really believe that the man who played slide on Tracker and the man who played the solo in this beautiful piece of art is not the same ;)

It is a cross between the authenticity of Ry Cooder and the romantic warmness of Chris Rea. Magnificent guitar work for a magnificent song.

And how can you not!

Again Kris Drever background vocals on this one. Fits very well, wonderful vocals from both.

Absolutely beautiful, like JF it's either the 64 Strat or the Dan Electro...

It's got that glassy tube like sound of lipstick pickups.

But it's more refined than the old gnarly Danelectro.

I'm guessing it is that Strat with Seymour Duncan lipstick pickups he used during the Dylan tour.  :)

After Nigel Hitchcock now Robbie being the second guest Musician asking fans about info of the album.
I find it strange that they not even know more about a release they are playing on, not to mention getting a free copy... maybe I am naive in expecting that. But contributing on an artists work of that calibre one might expect some more vibe about it?

Yes, I agree but remember Robbie was asked to play for the 'Loose end's' Radio show which was recorded yesterday but couldn't because of his show so perhaps MK was planning to give him an album or suchlike yesterday.
I'm sure Robbie will be sorted out with a copy or Id like to think so...

I absolutely love this song. Never thought that Mark's take on "How Deep Is Your Love" by Bee Gees can be so good :clap
Besides, no annoying vocals enhancements, just an overdub, no organs, drums, all sounds in place, even the fade out.

Let's count how many songs this song reminds to you. Seems like there's every dong in the word in "Every Heart In The Room".

I'll start with three: How Deep Is Your Love (Bee Gees), The Girl Is Mine (Michael Jackson & Paul McCartney), Tomorrow Never Dies (Swan Lee).

Any toughts about the lyrics? I have the strange feeling that MK composed this song years ago, not recently...

How would you conclude that from the lyrics?

It's not unusual for him to carry around with him them for many years.

This song could have totally been written by Jeff Lynne.  The melody and lyrics especially.  Beautiful.

Does have a slight ELO vibe to it & George Harrison's slide style and sound too!

Well others have called One Song at a Time the Masterpiece of the album, but after a week I'm leaning to Every Heart. A great melody, fine production & I think I'm just a sucker for every bonus track MK has ever done!!! The man should really release a Dylan-esque Bootleg series, I can't imagine what might be in the vaults!

The more I listen to DTRW the more I like every song on it. I'm even starting to accept Heavy Up.

EHITR is delightful!

The more I listen to the album the more I really enjoy this song, just a really nice melody and the slide playing is perfect, Absolutely hate the theromin sounding synth line though, but can overlook it,

I've been thinking about the lyrics a lot and it almost seems like it could be about a musician? singing/playing in a bar? Has Mark mentioned anywhere what this song is about?

I also think it's about a musician. Mark about himself?

Hi, all.  For some reason this song has always struck me as a father's words of advice to their child who has gotten into the entertainment industry (maybe even Issy).  It could be someone dreaming of getting into the music business, but it also works well for other forms of entertainment where there is a performer.  He is telling them to ignore the noise and people that aren't paying attention to the stage and to keep hanging on to their dream of being an entertainer, because one day everyone will pay attention to their performance - every heart will belong to them.

This seems like it is set in either a bar or a casino, where you have entertainment and a bar-type situation.

Well, that's my take on it.
